*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

Any one else hoping that they lay the foundation for Oculus Rift in the future? Once the retail model comes out with high rez screens this game would be amazing for total immersion.

The fact I can only fly ONE ship for the whole game depresses me.

I can live with only the one ship, tbh,i find myself flying just the one ship 90% of the time any way, as long as the ship you get is versatile & fully upgradeable it won't be too much of a hardship.

No, I'm hoping they concentrate on creating a balanced and enjoyable game which doesn't have a broken economy, broken AI and an engine that can handle modern multi threaded CPU's. I would take that over support for trivial, gimmickry technology that only a handful of people will own any day of the week.

Wow, that’ll teach me to be excited by new technology :D

If the oculus isn't officially supported then you can rest assured someone in the modding community will enable support for it. It's not that difficult so long as there is a way of influencing the head position and rotating in their API.

So this is showing up on websites much cheaper than Steam. If I buy a boxed copy, does it still register with Steam?

Yes they sell boxed copys on there website and says Online Activation via Steam required.

Also for anyone that wants it they are selling X Rebirth Collector's Edition - Box - English/UK on the egosoft shop

Excited :D I think I shall pre-order a boxed copy. A little confused though...£40 on Steam or £25 (inc shipping) for a boxed copy that activates on Steam...

Just preordered a box copy for £25, seems a bit weird that the digital version is so expensive but you can get boxed copies for cheaper. I don't even have a DVD drive in my machine so I'm literally getting a game box sent to me so I can get the code out of it!

Yeah if anything, the prices should be reversed! Haha and same for me - built my rig without an optical drive, honestly can't remember the last time I've even held any optical media. Will grab the code from the box and pop it into Steam :)

Rebirth was going to be my introduction to the series. Love this type of game but never had the time in the past to sit down with any of the previous X titles. I got them all in a recent Humble Bundle - do you think it's worth sinking time into any of the X3 games before I get my hands on this considering they seem to be shaping up to be quite different?
