*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

Hotas yes, although it really currently doesn't work very well, track ir is coming but not in game from what I gather.

flight in space is fine, actually rather nice when you have it bound properly.
menu selecting is a pain in the rear.
movement in space station just seems impossible, it's basically made for joypad from what I've seen. I can move but can't mouse look. I'll have to muck about with the stick settings even more.

Basically for a game that's meant to be a space sim they need a slap for not actually supporting joysticks better, 2 of the 3 basic axis even needed inverted. which screams JOYPAD. Despite the devs using joysticks /facepalm.

The game seems fine, not far enough in to make a judgement though.

Im sure I could use target to get my joystick to work correctly, I'll give it a shot and buy it I love space games.

After Rome 2 I didn't think I could get stung so badly again this year. If developers are going to make stuff for consoles do they really need to **** all over their previously loyal PC gamers before they go? So many years in the making and they can't even manage the most simple, basic and functional UI. For £40, disgraceful doesn't quite cut it.

I got a 10MB update, but no notes. This will be needing hundreds of MBs worth of fixing including a new UI built from scratch. Just as well I have beer and L4D2 tonight or I'd be properly furious.

Guys, the game is 64bit and they had it as minimum requirement since forever. In addition multicore CPU and 8GB RAM as minimum also.

Now, there are people QQ about 32bit?

On FX8350@5100 with a single 7950 works like a charm.

This sounds like the kind of game that could use a couple of months to stew and get the devs and modders cracking. Think that's a plan.

I think it's also the kind of game that deserves a re-review once it's been patched up, I get a feeling the initial ones will be scathing.

Isn't this 32 bit ? I am seeing bang on 4gb use, surely that is too much?

Seems like it is and it is massively hurting performance.

Now that I have played for a few hours my average Fps much be about 15. Turning down settings does nothing and it seems like people with much more powerful rigs are getting the same.

Why oh why didn't they make this 64bit!

It is a 32bit exe using no more than 4gb RAM.

A lot of people are saying to start a new game since the patch. Apparently runs a lot smoother - might give it a whirl and keep my old save.

How do you even assign a joystick axis to the game, every time I click on a axis in the menu screen e.g pitch it instantly says right trigger I don't even get chance to move my joystick.

Well...I played if for an hour.....initial impressions are pretty poor, especially for a game that costs £40.

Space itself and the stations look pretty, but everything else (ship interior, character models and station interior) are seriously poor...like graphic quality and textures from 5 years ago poor and even with such poor visuals the frame rates are horrendous, without taxing my machine what so ever (80% GPU and about 40% CPU utilisation).

I don't want to bad mouth it too much.....I will try playing a bit more when I'm not so tired.....but for £40 you are getting a very bad unfinished product that has very low production value (your co-pilot sounds like a dyslexic, trying to read the script for the first time) and as someone who is new to this series it doesn't bode well in terms of bringing me in.

I can see peoples frustrations with this one.

Wow this game blows compared to the previous X

Terrible frame rates, awful animations of characters, tedious walking about, boring zipping between space lanes e.t.c. I even died at the first meeting of the enemy at my frigate cause my ship sucked and what's with the awful controls, TAB for boost?

Developers are really taking the pee lately!

Too buggy imo to play right now. Walking too fast on the station and turning seems weird. Bad performance with 8x AA on the station dock screen when it shouldnt be a issue as nowt there really, 2x AA was ok tho. Shadows go all big and fuzzy too in places. No mouse sensetivity options and i think mouse acceleration is on :(

Choppy intro vid when u start the game and as its ES they blame it on codecs on ppl machines, which no other game has issues and need codec tampering, its only x games i have found.

Bad low res textures on the ship interior, bad character models and animations, bad cell shading gfx which they claim there not cell shaded but them red boxes on the station sure look like somit from borderlands 2 lol.

I can see it being a good game later when its fixed up like but as always the launch of the X games are buggy and sometimes cant really be played well yet. So might have to put it aside for a month or two.

Oh and the AF option ingame doesnt seem to work and is blacked out?

A modders dream!

Mouse/keyboard works well but I've given up on X52 HOTAS just now, joystick support is just dire and fiddly. Annoying when the devs themselves apparently used joysticks.

Game itself is quite good fun so far, only one bug so far - floating briefcase I had to jumped to in order to get but a couple of things come to mind..

1. I'm stealing EVERYTHING ON STATIONS, never get questioned by, the entire treatment of stations is dire, there's just no need for them at all and I personally they feel tacked on, like they started them and essentially gave up 50% of the way through.

2. Highways, hate them, end of.

3. need greater field of vision in the cockpit, it's pretty dire. Reminds me of the cockpit in the age old game "Captain Blood" it takes up so much room!

Still overall I'm enjoying it :)

I give up with it for now, if I have my rudder pedals plugged in it overrides my joystick so I cant use them and im getting dire fps like 20 frames max changing gfx settings does nothing for me and the mouse acceleration im getting is making walking around a ship a very displeasing experience for £39.99 im not happy.

I think I'm going to wait until maybe a holiday sale - give them a month or two to patch it up a bit.

Got plenty of other stuff to play in the meantime.

been on this all bloody night but got stuck! Trying to find somewhere that sells Trojan Drones. I'm in the middle of a mission that needs one :(

Had nothing but crashes and glitches all night, and without an autosave the amount of redoing missions was a pain.
