*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

Egosoft never seem to learn the lesson. I was hoping this launch might be different, sad really. My zavvi order is still winging it's way so I have asked for a returns. I'm not prepared to have this sitting on the shelf when it will be half price in the steam sale at Christmas. Hopefully the issues might be sorted by then.

I feel the same hoping it is 1/2 price at Christmas.

been on this all bloody night but got stuck! Trying to find somewhere that sells Trojan Drones. I'm in the middle of a mission that needs one :(

Had nothing but crashes and glitches all night, and without an autosave the amount of redoing missions was a pain.

There is a quick save that you can use.

You need to ask random ships. They will tell you where to go.

Yes mod the highways out, the station walking and larger cockpit view. Who comes up with these retarded ideas?

I like the highway system a lot. Station walking is bizarre though - they need a comm option. The cockpit is nice, but we need an option to get rid of it.

There is a lot right with this game though. Space is incredibly immersive, I just wish it got a few more Fps out of it!

I think Egosoft had a chance by getting their game out first, but looks like they've blown it. Rebirth, Star Citizen and Elite Dangerous are all going to be such timesinks, I can't see how you're going to be able to dedicate your time to all three. You'll choose one to go for, and I don't think X-Rebirth has done itself any favours launching in this state unless they can patch it up and fix the gameplay issues very quickly indeed.

At least they have time before the others release. We know nothing about the state that the others will release, it is all just an assumption that they will be fine. If rebirth is in a good state by then it might be good for egosoft.

They have plenty of time to fix things, which they always do. It's not as though the other 2 games are coming out any time soon.

Those of you expecting it to be half price at Christmas i wouldn't get your hopes up. That's only a matter of weeks away and i cannot see it happening.

I feel they have rushed it out for Xmas, I have spend thousands of hours on the x games but I just don't see how I am going to spend more than a 20 hours. Last night I gave up and started playing BF4.

Earlier in this thread I questioned why there was not any reviews and the reason why Publishers don't release a game for reviewers because they know there game is ****.

Guess what the game is a turd and they knew it.

I can't see it coming down much for christmas either, it's release looks to be timed with christmas buyers in mind. Maybe a small discount but tbh if I had known how poor it would be on release (I guess I should have!) I wouldn't have paid a penny more than half the price.

There are some quick wins they could make quickly though, here's hoping they come soon.

I must have had about 20 crashes yesterday but can';t find where the game keeps crash dumps to prove it.
Had to restart my game from the start because of a bug and me only using one save file...

on the first hacker mission I entered the space lane before it told me because my ship was getting shot up and then any time I tried to leave the space lane the game crashed but I saved on the space lane.......
even if I left the space lane fine the game would crash as soon as the dialogue was over.

on my second play through it was almost like a dynamic universe/enemies then I realised some of my last missions must have bugged as well because some enemies I saw this time never came in the previous game...
then half the enemy ships just sit clinging to a station and won't attack though where as last time they were much more alive

after 4-5 hours your're still running around finding marine captain , 8 marines and all other BS! the ui and simpleton mode of the game means it's pot luck whether you find them fast or not , then you have to hope they aren't plutarc or they won't speak to you...

the running around inside ships just feels like one giant interactive menu the kind of thing people despised the dirt series for

they should have called the game "x rebirth - space shopping simulator"

I guess this is what the X series feel like as a console style , mass effect wannabe game I can't imagine many of the hardcore X fans not being hugely disappointed

Now that I have played for a few hours my average Fps much be about 15. Turning down settings does nothing and it seems like people with much more powerful rigs are getting the same.

They had the exact same problem with X3: Albion Prelude when that first came out, shockingly low FPS for some people, it took them a while to patch the problem out, but they got there in the end, X: Rebirth will be no different.

lol so a major space station bar is the size of a McDonalds toilet and has less than 5 people inside according to egosoft :p

I think the game is pretty disappointing for what it was trying to achieve :(

I played a good few hours last night without any major issues. I'm really enjoying it so far. It needs improving but for an initial X game release I'm pretty immpresed and I'm glad I adopted on launch.

non of the graphics settings seem to do anything though having them maxed or not I still get the same fps , my cpu load on a haswell is something like
70/80/70/60
load on the cores and that is at 3.99ghz
my 7850 usually sits around 70% gpuload.

some systems I get 60fps , other I get around 20fps , at one point delivering the 100 energy cellls my fps dropped to 12fps whilst I sat waiting the 30mins for my hauler to arrive.

maybe the game is fun once you get the boring stuff out of the way but it seems like it will never end....

why is the map so retard mode? you can't interact with the map , zoom about etc it's just bloody awful so many features were done far better in the previous games.

I'd say the previous games had better visuals and a better art style as well.

I'm not done with it yet though I crashed enough yesterday to know there were 3 patches or more.

sometimes you can play for hours and everything is fine other times crash , crash , crash.

they clearly never QA tested the missions because you have to do them exactly as specified , even the slightest diversion from what the game is expecting ca break the missions and your savegame.

also yesterday another of my savegames got bugged when the console that pops out from between the seats refused to work.

reloading , rebooting etc did nothing that save game was just ruined for no reason.

one thing I did like a lot is the backstory on the devries system or whatever it's called when you get the databurst about their struggle I found that really cool

btw, I feel the game runs better in window mode and you can alt tab pretty safely where as full screen usually an alt-tab for me crashes it

heres an example of how buggy the game is , on the mission where you have to run the portal blockade run it before it tells you just head straight for the gate.
the game will send you back through the portal to do the same thing again because you skipped through before it told you to LOL.......
