*****EGOSOFT TNBT (X Rebirth)****

Whilst I agree that it looks great and the atmosphere is improved (the sectors feel more alive than previous games) I'm finding some things annoying:

- clunky menu system and navigation compared to X3
- annoying way of docking
- the whole first-person bit on stations is a bit lame and flakey
- no way of telling what NPCs are at a particular landing platform without flying right up to it
- dodgy looking NPCs with repetitive speech
- carbon copy station interiors
- no SETA to accelerate time
- I can't easily tell where my owned ships are like in X3

We definitely need a button that we can assign to speed up docking.

It is indeed a shame the station interiors are all the same. A little variety wouldn't hurt.

The stations look fantastic on the outside though. Just flew past some kind of water/ice station that looked like it was collecting water from a gas cloud. Some great sounds if you flew close enough too.

Really tempted to get this game, looks like the type that I can just get lost in for hours upon hours.

£40 is quite expensive for a PC game these days though.

For the amount of hours that you can possibly get out of it, I think it's not too bad :)

They really need to make the station walking optional - much preferred the old communications menu (which you could also do remotely), nothing is gained by having the crappy running around a station section.

The space side seems ok, I like the big ships - but I'm getting the impression you can only fly one ship so far? (fairly confident that's the case) - why?, flying new ships is what made progression in the X games worthwhile.

I'm putting the game down for now. At the moment it has left a bad taste in my mouth and I feel I shouldn't have been so hasty to sink £40 on it.:(

Thats exactly what I was going to ask, I am clicking like mad on the trade ship to get a dock menu up but nothing happens.

Ohhhh! You need to fly to the front and DOUBLE CLICK the green boxes icon. I was single clicking everywhere. :D

Thank you, I found it. Crew > Call remotely > click on icon next to the captain.

I think this opening section should have more tutorial tips in it, as this stuff isn't obvious.

Agreed. Try finding the engineer next!

I must say that this docking system is dull as anything. Why can't we just open up a comm link?

I'm not at impressed so far tbh, internal station graphics and characters really poor (what do they even bring to the game), docking is frankly terrible ( i have to fly to within about 100 yards before i can even click on the tiny icon!) and i'm finding getting up and running very, very slow and clunky.

Whilst my frame rates are generally good (only running at 1650 on a 2gb 7850 doesn't really drop below 30fps), I'm finding the odd disc access type delays which are quite frustrating.

Doesn't help that it's literally just booted me out and I last saved 40 minuites ago - looked at steam to find it's downloading a patch of some sort. I know the x games are always buggy but I can't help but feel very short changed for my £40. Half the price and i'd be relatively happy.

Oh it also doesn't really seem to flow from albion prelude for me (other than the ship) so far

I'm still on the fence, waiting for some more in depth reviews to come out.

What it seems so far from comments:
- spaceflight, soundtrack = great
- docking, inside stations, voice acting, npcs = not so good

Is that about right?
