29 million Bulgarians and Romanians will gain the right to live and work unrestricted in our country

I can't get my head around how my new Hungarian neighbour and his wife who have been in this country 12 months and haven't worked a single day yet they are receiving benefits.
How does that work??
They can't even speak English so how the hell are they going to get a job??
What a joke this country has become.

God damn European immigrants traveling to other EU countries for work because the isn't any in their country.

I used to care about things like this and then I realised that if I spend the time and energy that I would take going on about it, for nothing to happen anyway as my views are that of one person, on my business instead, I can just simply make a lot of money, pick my country of choosing if needed and expat myself to somewhere better.

Slowly coming round to this opinion with the dole scum too.

I will say though I think there will be a point where there are more immigrants living in the UK than people born here, and as we have seen, these people want us to change our laws to suit them when they are a minority, so what is the country going to be like when they are a majority?

That's hilarious... Pakistanis getting upset about new immigrants... :D Its not like other people didn't have exactly the same prejudices towards them (or still do)... hardly shocking that a big chunk of 1st generation immigrants from just about anywhere in the world won't automatically fit into a community.

Though for the most part migrants from eastern europe have tended to find work over here and settled in ok. A few Roma from Slovakia concentrated in one area is great for a scare story but hardly going to be a big issue overall.

So much confusion around this whole "mainland continent" business in this thread and press, it's hard to break through to the facts.

Romanians are not Roma. There nearly twice as many Romas in Spain and France respectively as there are in Romania at the moment. If their gypsy hearts were set on invading Sheffield to litter streets, play excessively loud music and gather every night on pavements, rest assured it would be done long, long time ago. Some locals, Adam Ant and Robert Plant for example, are Romas, they would help to organise such invasion, since you know - "they are all in it together", they are into that "excessively loud music" scene and whatever else we need for prop UKIP mythology. True story. Look it up.

European immigration/migration, especially permanent one, is still the smallest influx percentage wise. Even in the "worst year" (2005), after 80,000 migrants from new member states arrived in a single year, even if you take entire European Community migration for that year into account (142,000) - it was still far outstripped by 330,000 strong immigration from Old and New Commonwealth (mainly Asia and Africa). That's Border Agency numbers for National Statistics, migation news release 02.11.06. True story. Look it up.

Despite what Daily Mail would have you believe, immigration from Eastern or Central Europe, is not as big of an issue in numbers as most people think. Not every foreigner eats Kielbasa and sings Polka songs into the night apparently. That's mainly because over the five years since accession of new member states, statistically UK still had one of the lowest number of residents born in other EU state in entire EU27 block. Eurostat 2010. True story. Look it up.

Other reason is because most of the press schmucks like to massage the numbers and pretend they do not have a map at home. And they liked to throw all stats for actual Eastern Europe together with new member states. Poland is not in Eastern Europe. Czech Republic is not in Eastern Europe. Neither is Slovakia or Hungary. Geographical center of Europe is in Purnuskes, 26 km north of Vilnius, Lithuania. Mapping center of Europe is in the middle of Ukrainian Zakarpatia. Everything west of those points is geographically Western Europe or Central Europe by geo-political division. It's not eighties any more people, you can google, there is no excuse for CNN "there be dragons" cartography anymore. True story, look it up.

It's called "pulling up the ladder after you are aboard", and it's very common. Technically everyone who doesn't want immigrants is practising it, because everyone in Britain is descended from immigrants - all the separates people is: how long ago.

To add: I really don't have a problem with 30mill immigrants coming here to work.

I think the 30mill british citizens who live here and DON'T WORK are the problem.

Scrap the dole and I would be very happy, I, and countless others are living proof that if you are desperate, there are legitimate ways to make a living. Infact, I would go as far to say that not finding a job after graduating Uni was one of lifes best challenges, I really doubt I would be sitting here typing this at home, with the central heating on, whilst all the 9-5'ers are stuck in traffic earning less money, if I was just handed a good job on a plate.
This would increase the big entreuprenuerial spirit the government is currently pushing for too!

I love threads like this, really brings out the idiots of the forum, well done op, I now know who to avoid.

My gf is romanian, has a PHD from cambridge in mathematics, is currently a mathematician for an aerospace research company.

I love how you guys think you are better than romanians, when all you do is whinge about how the country has no jobs, how you are getting screwed by the government all the while doing nothing about it.

Cry me a river.

And skin colour. Whites got here first!

Because everyone knows deep down (even if they won't admit it) that a country that can't enforce its own borders eventually gets taken over by a foreign power. This happened in Roman times when they couldn't keep the barbarians out, happened to Native American nations and happened most recently in the Balkans.

no one is bothered about the skilled ones.

it's the unskilled ones coming over mainly because they hear of the generous benefits, theres some videos of them in romania talking about coming over here specifically for that reason and we aren't talking about the odd bloke we are talking everyone in that area saying the same thing
