didn't he cry being overlooked?

http://espnfc.com/news/story/_/id/1562234/jose-mourinho-saddened-miss-manchester-united-job

but be honest if he was offered I seriously doubt he would have turned it down utd are a bigger club and especially him being fergies friend and all but iirc bobby charlton didn't like him

That book is a load of utter tripe, according to Eladio Parames.
It's penned by someone with a hatred of Mourinho & contains no quotes or anything of substance, why anyone ever believes these sort of things opposed to quotes by people involved baffles me.
Perhaps people just hear what they want to hear and can't be bothered finding out if it's true or not as it fits well with them.

So we have to name all these managers that would have joined...but you claiming you know the minds of all the top managers in Europe is perfectly fine? Sure.

No I'm saking which ones that are the top european managers that were even available. So it's not ok for me to say they wouldn't have joined but ok for everyone else to say they would have.

None of us know it's speculation I just don't think any top european manager was available.

2ndly - If reports are to be believed (and we will only know in the summer) United have between £150 -£200m for Moyes to spend (not including the £30m on Fellaini of course) , so yes that would MORE than enough to get a good start on renewing the current squad.

Yeah and I remember the last time you supposedly had 150m to spend after the sale of ronaldo and the usual budget and none of it materialised. As you say though the summer will show if that's true or not. I'm guessing not.

Thats impossible to answer because none of us know how much (lets say) Dortmund would have charged Man Utd to get their manager.

Just because Messi has a £200m buy out clause, without asking the question no one knows how much it will cost to get him (and IF he wanted to move)

Just because Fergie chose not to buy , doesnt mean he didnt have the money. Its also a case that it was proven (by the accounts being released) that the money WAS available.

Just because Fergie chose several years ago not to spend, has no reflection on whether Moyes will do the same......even though its evident (to most people) the club needs to renew a lot of its players.

Any chance of linking to any of those many quotes directly from him that will prove he was desperate to manage Man.U?

Paco Alcácer was at Finch Farm last week and we've apparently put in a bid for him and also Oriol Riera.

Fergus didn't want to pay 40 million for youngsters like'Azard. He wanted to buy young and preferably cheap. Or commercially viable and cheap.

that's how you end up with Kagawa, Zaha and co instead of Oscar or 'Azard. Two peripheral figures instead of two first team starters.

That's what shows in our team.

Lucas another one. Wasn't his flight to Manchester pretty much redirected mid flight to Charles De Gaulle. :D

Yeah him. I know, just using him as an example to add to Nick's list. Not to say he'd perform the same in the PL under Fergie especially.

In Hull Cougar news, they've agreed a fee with WBA for Shane Long.

404.
Can you link to one of the many?

There aren't any, because he's never -- ever -- said he wants to manage United. It was a media driven thing; they put two and two together (wants to manage in England again and his good relationship with Fergie) and made five.

Actually, pre-signing with Chelsea again.. all he ever did was talk about his love for Chelsea!

He said: 'I don’t know. I love Chelsea. I was the happiest man when I was there. I was thinking I would be there all my life. So you never know.
'When I sign a contract, I sign with the intention to respect the contract and be happy.'

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...-boss-Jose-Mourinho-hints-Chelsea-return.html

"People can't understand how much I love Chelsea and I know if I get them in the quarter-finals or the semi-finals, they would be great opponents," said Mourinho, who has been widely-tipped to retake the reins at Stamford Bridge in the summer.

"I'm happy Chelsea have got through, but I'd love to play them in the final."

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...o-play-Chelsea-in-Champions-League-final.html

Even players he's worked with comment on it:

Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho's love for Chelsea comes second only to his wife and kids according to Wesley Sneijder.

"Jose Mourinho only loves his wife & kids more than Chelsea, he has a special place in his heart for the club," Sneijder said speaking to SporX.

"He has never made any secret about wanting to coach in England again — and when you hear him talk about Chelsea I don’t think he could coach any other team there.

“Mourinho has the excited look of a kid telling his parents what he wants for Christmas when he talks about the Premier League and Chelsea.”

There are loads more...

None of us know? Well apparently you know...

There wasn't one available that would join either. If Moyes had turned down United I dread to think what the back up plan was?

I don't know why Man Utd haven't put bids in for Capoue and or Holtby. They would both force the move through and are actually better than what Man Utd currently have.

None of us know? Well apparently you know...

So it's ok for people to say there was someone with no evidence but not ok for me to speculate there wasn't. Again tell me who was available or you think would have come? Give me a name of someone from the european elite who you might think would have joined?

Best you don't speculate on anything again in this thread, unless it's ok for you only?

Another link from the same time frame with Mourinho saying yet again he wants to manage Utd

sorry the Telegraph link doesnt work any more, but it was certainly working earlier

Whether you want to believe it or not is another matter, but JM went through a phase a few years ago (09/10/11) about wanting to manage Man Utd, mentioning that club specifically in a lot of interviews.

Of course, now he is back with a national rival he is saying completely different things. Only to be expected.

So it's ok for people to say there was someone with no evidence but not ok for me to speculate there wasn't. Again tell me who was available or you think would have come? Give me a name of someone from the european elite who you might think would have joined?

You also cant prove that x, y or z was NOT available.

Any player (from the club's point of view) and any manager is available given the right incentive (ie high enough ££££)

See how many you can come up with who refused the job before Feb /March last year (I think that was approximately when SAF announced Moyes had been given the job)

It should be noted that JM is a "I'd love to manage them I love the country, I love the people, the fans are the best and its the best league" man.

He says it about Portugal, Italy, England... when will people cotton on to the fact that his answers aren't based in reality but in appeasing those people currently in the room with him.

In spain he says Spain is the best league and he loves it, in England he says he'd love to go back there, in Italy he tells them he'd kill to manage there again. If he went to North Korea and the press asked him, he'd say he missed it and would happily come back there....

Why anyone takes anything Mourinho says seriously I don't know. Goes to club, spends 3 years deflecting attention away from his players, fosters a spirit that works, for a time then the club starts to fall apart a bit, he runs off to another top paying job to do the same thing again.

Who cares what he said, or what a ghost written book said, or a book about him by someone else says, just because someone states something doesn't make it the truth and in Mourinho's case he's a well known BS artist.

It was being denied that he stated on numerous occasions that he would love to manage Man Utd.

I have proved otherwise with various articles with direct quotes

Whether he meant it or not was not being discussed
