Had some good fights last night. Took a while for me to work out that some people had crashed but still appeared in game. Spent over a minute chasing them down, only to have them disappear :D

Holy crap ! i need track IR when this game comes out, Love it when the ship hits the asteroid and spins off before exploding.

I would like to see someone get a human on their 6, and then dog fight there way out of it? One of my concerns has been how well this will work...

Got a few bugs the HUD for me is all messed up and it crashes from time to time, but apart from that I am really loving the multiplayer side not very good at it but it is loads of fun.

I've got the same issue with the HUD. Are you using the latest AMD Catalyst 14 beta drivers? I was thinking about going back to the previous set to see if it cleared up the HUD issue.

Gave the multiplayer a blast tonight, a bit disappointed as it crashes a lot and the HUD/cockpit is completely messed up.

In graphics settings there is a AMD crash fix check box, which helps a little. The HUD is messed up at higher resolutions. My screen is 1920 x 1200 and I had the issue. If I run at 1920 x 1080 the HUD is correct.

Issues can only be expected in the Alpha, I'm sure they'll patch out the crash issues over the next few weeks.

I saw a ED video recently where the player goes after a ship that goes silent and hides behind an asteroid. The player still has a visual on the target, so flies around the other side of the asteroid and shoots him from behind.

The player then has to run from other bounty hunters, and he flies deeper in the asteroid belt, ejects one of his full heatsinks that leaves a misleading heat point on the scanner for his pursuers, before going dark and hiding behind an asteroid himself.

It looks like there is some great tactical gameplay available in the dogfighting that's dependent on your ship, loadout, style of play, environment, etc.

Yeah I just gave it a go, came across another pilot doing silent running and had to manually aim with my auto-cannons as I couldn't target him, was good fun and will definitely lead to tactical gameplay. Seems to also be the way to go to avoid gimbled weapons which otherwise are awesome.

Fingers crossed! There's a lot to get right and balanced, so a lot that might trip the game up.

Yes but that was the whole point of KS to do what the developer wants and not the publisher ie: To fix what needs to be fixed and they have already said they wont release the game until its right.

What Joysticks are people using for this? I'd like to have something decent ready for the Beta.

I've always used mouse and keyboard for space sims, like one of my favourites... Freelancer :p

Is this any good with mouse and keyboard?

I don't think I've actually owned a Joystick since my 48k Speccy

Oh, and as much as I love using the 360 pad for driving games, I really don't want to use it for this ;)

Any recommendations?

Cheers

You want a joystick, I was using a Saitek FLY5 until it broke last night. I can't recommend it because of that, as I had read up last night and they seem to break very easily. I'll be looking for something else to replace it.

Agree on the FLY 5 being a bit 'lukewarm'. Mine was fine for a good 8 months, then lost all rotational axis input. Managed to fix this by dismantling it and re-gluing the internal cables in the base to the appropriate solder points, but half the buttons are still not working. It'll be going in the bin not long before Elite launchers in favour of an X52 or similar.
