Who here owns a Subaru?

Got one yet Hutchy?

I'll just leave this here....

He knows what he's doing... git :p Maybe hes thinking about selling it :p

The annoying thing is, that blue 2003 one I posted above, I've just realised it was on Scoobynet for £8000 but didnt even look inside the thread as was stuck-fast on a 2005 widetrack.

The guy ended up selling it to a dealer and it's now up for £11K

I'm becoming that desperate now I'd consider 2003/2004 providing the mileage is reasonable and it's well cared for.

My "big idea" was to have Kawasaki green brake calipers on a black prodrive bugeye but with white wheels with a big offset.

Are you not bothered about having DCCD? Can you not stretch to a hawkeye? A 55 plate hawkeye with engine rebuild would be ideal (Bug and hawk I like, blob I've never been keen on - personally)

From what folk have said, I don't think I need DCCD. On my old widetrack I left it on auto and never played with it. I do however like the arch lips and revised interior on the widetrack. At the moment though theyre less important to me as I try to find a good car in general terms.

I love the hawks, possibly more so than the blobs, but the 2.5 issues scare me off. The rebuilt ones I've seen so far haven't appealed to me but would certainly consider one if the right one came along.

I'm going to get some spacers on the front and rear, give it a real good stance.

Hutchy, you can buy mine for £13k if you like:p

Had a test drive of the new STI today. Just a few thoughts quickly...

Build quality has improved dramatically over the last version and in the metal it looks pretty good. The demo was all black including the wheels which gave it a nice overall stance and look. Seats are very supportive and comfy, steering wheel is a nice size and about the right thickness.

To drive, it was the old subaru story I can remember of nothing happening until the turbo spins up and then it goes, even with an engine that has done only a couple hundred miles. Lots of grip, good handling and feedback through the wheel and instilled loads of confidence even in the crap weather. Gear box felt nice and direct and having a screen with boost etc on it was a good to see. Brakes felts very hard and didn't seem to have much bite, but this could be down to it having covered so few miles.

Overall I'm quite impressed, the price of 29,495 in any colour other than white, its good value and with only 200 a year coming in it should hold its value and be a rare sight.

I'm still waiting for one. About ready to throw in the towel to be honest, problem is I can't even find an alternative I like. I'll likely go back to another boring Golf, either an Edition 30 or R32.

I'm seeing 2003/2004 models go for £9000+ in certain circumstances, I just refuse to pay that amount of money for a 10 year old car.

I was the same 10 years ago. I waited and waited for the right one to come along and the Skoda dealer had a black VRS Octavia in budget and I decided if I didn't find an Impreza I want I'd get the VRS. Scoob I bought popped up on PH that night.

Keep your powder dry mate. It will be worth it.

Funny thing is mate I too had your experience. I was waiting months for my first Scoob and out of desperation went down Bradford, seen some right dogs. On the drive back I was 100% I was giving up... one then popped up 3 miles down the road from home with low miles and mint condition, needless to say I was there like a bat out of hell.

...sad thing is, the lads on here will attest, I stupidly sold it after less than a month of having it as I didnt gel with having a big saloon car (always had hatches prior). Silly, silly move and should have given it time.

Thats really the last niggle in my mind now, what if I wait all of this time to find one to only feel the same again.

Again I find myself asking: go for, or advertised for? There's a world of difference, as many of those sellers will find out. But I do think that you are keeping your choice too narrow.

Oh don't get me wrong, theres plenty of day dreamers about, though I have seen the better examples go for more than ever.

Choices at the moment, in order of preference; blue or black 2005 widetrack STI, blue or black 2003/2004 STI, blue or black Hawk STI. I don't think I'm being terribly picky in wanting FSH, <60K miles and good clean bodywork.

Recently I've seen a LOT of pre DCCD models be advertised for silly prices, they all seem to be dealer cars though..

Good ones are getting rarer. I know I'm going to regret selling mine even more when I get round to buying one again.
