Watch Dogs - Ubisoft's Third Person Shooter

Benchmarked: How Well Does Watch Dogs Run On your PC?

Seems the CPU is more important for this game.

Conclusion :

"Watch Dogs is a surprisingly demanding game, particularly when you consider the console hardware it's also running on. But at its most entry-level detail settings and a 1280x720 resolution, you can get by with a Radeon R7 240 or GeForce GT 630 GDDR5. At 1920x1080, you want a GeForce GTX 650 or Radeon R7 250X to keep your nose above 30 FPS. But a Radeon R7 260X or GeForce GTX 750 Ti is going to save you from a lot of the stuttering we observed.

Step up to the highest detail levels, though, and you'll want a Radeon R9 270 or GeForce GTX 760 to run at 1080p. At any resolution higher than that, shoot for high-end hardware like the Radeon R9 290 or GeForce GTX 780. Indeed, the best experience we had was with Nvidia's GeForce GTX Titan overclocked to achieve performance similar to a GeForce GTX 780 Ti.

Even with the Ultra detail preset enabled, which you'd think would shift the workload toward graphics, a strong host processor is surprisingly critical. While the Core i3-3220 and FX-4170 only mustered a 24 FPS minimum, the FX-6300 almost hit 30. The FX-8350 and Core i5-3550 managed a more tolerable 37-88 FPS, and Intel's Core i7-3960X lead by not dropping under 51 FPS.

Of course, you can mitigate the performance hit by lowering your detail settings, bringing frame rates back up, but that somewhat defeats the purpose of gaming on a PC. Make sure you have an FX-6000-series CPU at minimum to enjoy Watch Dogs at higher graphics quality settings, but a Core i5 or FX-8000 would be much better. The publisher recommends a Core i7 for the best possible performance, and we have to agree."

For this game it's a very poor comparison, the Titan has plenty of vram while the 780 Ti only has 3gb and very quickly runs out of vram, resulting in texture swapping causing huge stuttering.

Well at end of the day it was a Titan (Non Black) they used so will not matter to tests only comparison

A 780Ti 6GB will be even faster as has more Cores.

Did you guys switch of v-sync?

What is the setting after V-sync where you can select frames?

I have a i7 3770k, and 780ti and this game stutters like a mofo with 1 frame vsync and 2 frame on the GPU buffer. Might try and switch that off and see what happens. Such a shame that a game optimised for nvidia runs like poo at 1080p

I'm using 7950 crossfire and seeing my bottom gpu getting almost maxed out while my top card sits at around 50%. All the while getting around 40fps. Please tell me i'm not alone. All other games working fine

That is probably an issue with drivers. Are you on the latest AMD drivers released yesterday? It could also just be bad coding that will be fixed (maybe, if you're lucky) in a patch :p

A few further impressions:

-Had some really great fun earlier doing a mission where I had to infiltrate somewhere, then escape. It was really good as I was sneaking around, then was spotted and knocked the guy out who saw me(THIS IS HOW IT SHOULD BE UBISOFT!!!), then escaped in my car by going through car parks and closing the gates behind me. the cops apsect of escaping is slightly confusing, but workable.
-When the game clicks it is very good. Unfortunately though, for every great bit there are many annoying bits.
-There is a hell of a lot to do in the game.
-The poker is excellent.
-Just when I thought they had missed out the eagle towers from AC, I found them in the form of ctOS towers:rolleyes:!
-Finally, the multiplayer aspect is a stroke of genius, especially as it is not combat based.

If I remember right the vsync1 is regular 60 fps vsync and the 2 option is 30fps like used on the consoles

That GTA IV video is naff.

WD clearly and obviously looks better than GTAIV, but remember that rockstar has far more to invest in their one trick pony. So the production of that game is much better. WD looks and feels great, just some hick ups on the tech side :(

I am having an issue!

I start up the game fine but when I click NEW GAME it loads up then black screens and crashes to desktop with the message that THE PROGRAM HAS STOPPED WORKING? Thats every time as well.

You can see in my sig that my specs are above minimum, i have no idea what is causing this? any ideas?

Can't play this at all...fps goes to 5 or so often outside on first bit leaving stadium.

All Ultra without AA on too...was 70-100fps inside stadium and no stutter.

Might try textures on high i guess.

Any SLI users have had this?

As much as it pains me, I am going to wait until Ubisoft puts out their first update before I purchase this game. Fix your **** Ubisoft and only then you can have my money.

Im in the same boat. First problem was the stuttering which I managed to fix. Then it was the huge fps drops that messing around with the Nvidia control panel fixed. No I am having random crashes and blue screens for apparently no reason. I'm going to give up until it gets fixed because this is just not worth the hassle any more.

hummm yeah, I think that's what I was getting on BF4 initially because I was missing a folder.

at the risk of really borking it here's my sweetfx folder that I used with bf4 (and given to friends successfully.

(just had to edit as there was a swear in the link xD )

https://www.dropbox.com/s/hatmqmpz0y0fdpd/sweetfxstuff.rar

under the top directory should be the sweetfx and shaders folders and then the other files too. All go into the WD directory (like you do with bf4). I'd try and get rid of any sweetfx files you have in the WD directory first as any extra files can cause it to not work. oh, don't think you need the user.cfg as that's to get the FPS counter on bf4 to auto start ;)

Might have to grab this tonight and give it a whirl. seems fun from the streams I;ve watched but.....as has been previously stated....looks like the gimmicks may get old fast/boring and AI are pants :p

Thx for also including your BF user.cfg file you nab!!

Played the intro stadium sequence and it was ok. After that performance is awful/unplayable. Latest drivers etc, sli enabled/disabled.

Only paid £23 so not too bad, but I would have had more fun setting fire to it at this point. Still..you live and learn.
