Supplements the debate/discussion thread

Anyone got a TPW referral code please; had enough of MP. 3 orders, 3 times its gone missing / had to refund it as they don't know where the order is.

Anyone used "Reflex Nutrition natural whey" before? I want something that isn't full of artificial ****. I'm curious of the taste as I've read it is a bit hit and miss when it comes to flavour.

I've just finished a 4kg tub, tried as I found it on offer at a good price. Chocolate flavour was a bit bland but I don't care what it tastes like and I add loads of nasty tasting stuff to my protein shakes anyway. Seems to be good quality no issues with digestion, wind, etc.

Cheers for the heads up, do you know of any deals for a 2.27kg tub please? I can't better £44 with free delivery anywhere it seems. As for taste I'm going to whack a good quality peanut butter and Flahavans oats in which should help.

You can get it slightly cheaper from Dolphin Fitness if you can find the 5% off discount code. Or get yourself some unflavored whey protein with some cocao powder or nesquicks. Bulkpowders unflavoured whey 5kg cost £46.79 and if you are a new costumer you can get a 10% discount from their website.

Tank, if you are looking for a "cleaner" protein, why not buy unflavoured whey and add your own flavouring?
You wont get cleaner than that.
And beside Reflex will have added their own "stuff", so they can market their item (vs cheaper, unflavoured whey) as containing a proprietary blend of super ingredients and therefore justify the high cost.

Thanks guys I'll just stick with Reflex nutrition natural whey I don't want to go with another brand I have been using their products for over ten year's and just never used whey before and fancied giving a quality trusted one a go.

Someone will be asking for unprocessed whey next, because anything processed = not CLEAN.

I read a thread on another board where someone demanded to know if Impact Whey was Cold filtered whey (vs. ion, ultra, micro filtered etc) as this method was 'cleaner'.

Bought Reflex Nutrition Natural whey and it tastes ****ing nasty and in no way should that be advertised as chocolate flavour more like watery cocoa powder. Hopefully mixing Flahavans organic oats, frozen banana's and Meridians crunchy peanut butter will alter the dire taste.

Really, reminds me of the time when i brought myofusion hydrowhey, now that was really disgusting. It smelt bad, it tasted bad, nothing could save it & people said it was amazing.

I even retched ...

I suspected it would be bad - but not THAT bad.

Unfortunately, what I've noticed is that most buyers are quite happy to accept mediocrity. And if somebody dare say, "that tastes awful", the retort is that its a protein shake - its not supposed to taste great. I disagree.

I recently had the misfortune to buy TPW Chocolate Silk and it was one of the worst tasting drinks I've had in the last few years. But that in itself wasnt the problem. The problem was that no matter what I added to it, I simply could not improve the taste/texture. Truly the worst chocolate flavour shake I've had. And people on this forum rave about this sorry excuse for a protein shake.

Given that you prefer a "natural" taste, you should've got unflavoured whey. I did advise you of this, but you did not heed my advice. You couldve saved money AND got a better product.

If you want something that tastes great, do the following:
unflavoured whey concentrate (not isolate) (2 scoops)
MP toffee liquid flavouring (1 squirt)
approx quarter teaspoon of cocoa powder
half teaspoon of sweetener (I use Stevia, but any will do)
mix with water

This tastes very natural and you shouldn't gag. I'd say that this is the best flavour I've had in recent years and should beat anything that Reflex sell, while saving you money.

With your existing protein shake, to improve things, I would suggest experimenting with:
peanut butter
cocoa powder (this will give the shake a stronger chocolate flavour)
try it with milk (this will create a thicker texture, and richer flavour)
try it with water (this will thin the shake).

I hope you can create a recipe which makes it more palatable.

Just tried this in the blender.

75g of reflex natural whey
500ml semi skimmed
50g of Flahavans organic oats
one frozen banana
One table spoon of Meridians crunchy peanut butter.

Very nice and I'll try the strawberry variant next time not keen on cocoa flavour.

I have used TPW chocolate stuff, on its own, with almond milk, with almond butter, with oats and with dextrose. It's perfectly fine, but then I only use them when I know I'm going to be struggling for food that day.

It's perfectly fine though, I actually enjoy it with milk.
