According to Ben Smith and James Pearce, Liverpool have finally agreed a £20m fee with Lovren who will have a medical tomorrow in Liverpool.

With Lovren joining Remy and Origi (although the latter will be going out on loan) in signing over the weekend, we'd have spent somewhere in the region of £90m and we're still going to be in the market for a LB and another attacking player whether that be a midfielder, winger or another striker.

Oh and Manquillo and maybe a back up keeper.

Return of the Drog! :D

It's been a good transfer window so far for Chelsea. We've strengthened well throughout the field, without spending a huge amount (net anyway). If Lukaku stays and Torres is sold then all the better.

Not sure if Drogba is a great idea or not... I guess they need decent cover for Costa but if he has a rough few games, Drogba being on the bench might undermine him.

According to Tony Evans, we'll be after another CB too.

Really? Where's he said that?

Toure's reportedly on his way out with either a move to Turkey or some Arab club. Agger would have to go too before we signed another CB I'd imagine.

He was Drog **** last season. Unless he's going to be 3rd or 4th choice then it doesn't make sense.

I see him being used mostly as a late sub. Unless we have serious injury issues I can't see him starting many matches (except maybe against Arsenal :p), so I don't think he'll be much of a threat to Costa. A fresh Drogba would give a tired defence something to think about, and help Costa stay fresh. Still, I think he's been signed for his experience as much as his on pitch skills. I'm sure he can help shape Lukaku into Jose's image of a striker if nothing else.

For Arsenal fans - how do you feel about Cesc feeding Drogba at the Emirates? :p

.

He did a Q&A earlier in the week, unfortunately I dont have a link to hand.

Found it, it was an interview.

Lovren is obviously a target for Liverpool, have you heard anything regarding a second bid for the player? And if he does sign is he likely to partner Sakho or be an alternative to Sakho.

Think they'd like to bring two centre backs in. Lovren will almost certainly come. Think they'd like Lovren, Sakho and another

Why have they signed Drogba? Surely Lukaku is much more important to be the 2nd striker for Chelsea? Reminds of Man United bringing back Scholes when they had a very talented young Pogba waiting to get game time.

As much as I love Drogba I'm not sure why he's coming back, can't see why we need 4 strikers.
I can only hope it means Torres is off as I really want to give Lukaku a shot this year.

I think his last kick being the winning Pen in the CL final was the best way to finish it. Don't want him to spoil that :(

I think we'll get rid of Lukaku and Drogba may be there to tell Costa how to operate as a muscly beast up front for Chelsea. He may also mentor Bamford who has said he's keen to stay rather than be on loan this season.

I can't help but feel he's been brought back primarily to mentor the next generation rather than play a lot of games.

Not a bad idea at all if that's the case.

Does simply being old make you a good mentor? Maybe I'm wrong but I don't see Drogba as somebody that younger players will learn from, whether that be attitude, style of play or anything else.

It's not as if Drogba was a particularly clever player in regards to how he played (he was a unit that bullied defenders) and his attitude was questionable to say the least; he'd regularly go missing varying from the odd game to large parts of the season.
