There's plenty to learn from him! He was strong, athletic, had a good eye for goal and could finish well.

100 goals in 226 games for Chelsea is a very decent return!

Simply being old?:p

Well his age is the only reason why I can think people believe he'll be a good mentor. You can't teach people to become a Bull nor would you want anybody copying his attitude and (lack of) commitment.

Edit: Tute, if Drogba mentored Joe Allen would he become a 6 foot 3 powerhouse?

No, but there's never any guarantees with that kind of thing. You just hope that the best qualities will rub across.

It's surely worth a punt.

He's not simply old though:p
You've chosen that ahead of all his attributes to assume that's why people think he'll be a good mentor :p

My point is that Drogba's biggest qualities were his physical attributes. You can't teach that, you're either built like that or you're not.

@JG, it's not that I've chose it, it's that I don't see what else he could offer.

So simply having physical attributes doesn't make you a good mentor not simply being old :p

I disagree slightly on your last two points, you just don't score that many goals as he did without being decently skilful and clever. :)

According to reports in France and Spain, PSG need to sell Cavani before they can buy Di Maria, so the deal is being held up, and we're his second choice...

They're obviously trying to flog us Cavani, as well - if the above is true then we definitely shouldn't buy him and try and hold out to get Di Maria. :p

The €60m price tag is steep but at this stage I wouldn't complain. I've no idea why we'd want Cavani, sure if he was cheap, but even then, RvP and Rooney are our strikers and at the moment we've got good enough cover there.

Cesc feeding Drogba the winner at the Emirates , Arsenal fans will love that :p

Fraid not. Cesc injured in Arsenal vs Chelsea game. Out for the rest of the season. Game ends a tight contest with Arsenal winning 1 - 0. Ozil Pen.

But the Standford Bridge game, Ozil on fire, and Sanchez Hat Trick. Chelsea 0 - Arsenal 3. :D

Cavani can play out on the wing though, and RVP hasn't got years left in him either. 60 is steep. If you could get him for 40, defo should do it.

He doesn't like being on the wing and it limits his influence. However, if RvP got injured then we'd be delighted we got him. If we sell Hernandez to At. Madrid for £15m~ and buy Cavani for £30m~ then that would be a good move, assuming his wages aren't ridiculous (they probably are given it's PSG and all).

Di Maria would be a far more useful player for us to get, as LvG would prefer to play a 4-3-3 system but it's not really possible with our squad due to the poor balance. We'd need a few transfers in and out to change that though. :/

liverpool paying £20m for lovren?

is this a different lovren to the average southampton player?

Liverpool are going crazy with $£$£ at the moment. Look what happend to Spurs. Spend your money wisely not squander it.

Also all these players have to gel and adapt. Do not expect Liverpool to be as good as last season.

Not going to be as good anyway without Suarez. It's a case of trying to strengthen throughout and maintain a top-4 place to build on. If they can pull off a mega signing (looks highly unlikely at the moment) then that may change, but currently it's about building a team to fight for the top-4 in the Premier League and trying to qualify for the knockout stages of the Champions League.
