Im always surprised when I see people having issues with droppers, I got my ks i950r in 2010 (or 09, I must check) and it's required nothing but a clean now and then.

These the same people that are pushing for everyone to ride 29" wheels :p

I see the benefit but they need more development. Read the comments on Pinkbike after every dropper post review, practically everyone complains about reliability. No product is any where close to being perfect.

29'ers are so last year, 650Bee is where it's at nowadays! :p

Personally can't see how anyone could ride at a decent speed down a rough track with a saddle stuck up their backside?

Proper tracks - where?
I've done Snowdon, Ranger Path down which was pretty gnarly, but there are no climbs going down so a dropper isn't required. You climb to the top with the seat up, stop for 5 seconds to drop it, then carry on down :)

Same for Fort William DH

Pretty much what I was thinking - troll post.

The only reason for a dropper which I can see is Enduro Racing.

Then please come ride some trails with me, if you rode the same track I rode on Sunday with your seat upto the sky you wouldnt have got down it.

Also a dropper is possibly the best MTB product on the market right now, it completely enhances a ride!

When out riding my trail bike i loose count of the times i think to myself i wish i had a dropper, regardless of weight, servicing etc, i'd happy take the hit on those for the sheer convenience of not having to stop, and adjust the seat height all the time, just wish i had the money, I am on the look out for a bargain 2nd hand.

One if my buddys hasnt got a dropper and its started to annoy me now when we have to wait for him to adjust his seat post so I cant imagine what its like for him lol

SDgay does have a point though...

Laggan black is probably the hardest black in the UK. But people have been riding it on 26" Hardtails for years. But just because something can be ridden on x bike, doesn't make it right, or as enjoyable as it could be.

It's not just for when things get gnarls, for me the biggest difference is just playing while out on a track. I see the point where someone wants to pull over, when a really rough bit is coming up and slamming the seat down for a longish descent.

To me the biggest value add is, when it's just too much effort to stop and drop the seat, where you want to boost of smaller stuff and get a bit wild, without the annoyance of a seat up your bum. Then immediately be able to go back to max extension to keep the cadence up.

yeah what cow said - I bought my reverb to get my saddle down, but it actually means i have it up more because i can leave it at full pedal height rather than compromising on some allrounder hight that is neither out the way enough or high enough for a decent pedal. The amount of people that laughed when I bought mine first - oh wait they all have all bought them too now!

also better piccie of the SC, just missing my buggered Renthals :(

Lovely bike! I would be interested to hear what you make of the Pikes.
I have been thinking about replacing my Lyrik RC2 DH's but not sure if it's worth it

nah not yet - gonna hit some local jumps thursday night and maybe tidworth on sunday

pikes seem ace just on looks - much stiffer than the fox fork i was running

I stuck a bottomless token in my pikes and it made them quite abit better. You can run lower preassure so small bump n lil hits are non existent but never bottom out or dive badly under bit stuff.

easy to fit, just let all air out, undo air cap, screw in a token to air cap by hand then refit air cap n pump up, literally 2 minutes
