One in the pic is a Gamo Stutzen. The better one is the BSA Airsporter Stutzen which is worth about £300-400 in good nick. See below. I would love to pick one up myself

Guys, quick noob question - ive found an old air rifle in a garage, the barrel is rusted and there are rust spots all over but it seems to **** fine - best way to clean it up?

In answer to your original question, some 3 in1 oil and 0000 grade wire wool and time

A chap at my range is selling a single shot Airarms s200 for 200 i think, its a pcp so add a stirrup pump and you have something you wont need to **** and only refill every 70 or so shots. Pull the bolt back, slude a pellet in and push the bolt back and away you go :)

Check freeads hunting and shooting section

I'm looking at a Stoeger X20 at the moment, comes with scope, bag etc for £150.

Private seller on a site, would rather furnish an OcUK'er with the cost though if there are any decent break barrels about :)

Sounds expensive for a Stoeger, they start around £90 brand new.

Shot count is only about 45-50 in .177 on the S200 unless it's been fitted with a regulator.

S200 is a cracking little gun, but some are 6ft/lb target rifles.

This is why I asked in here :)

It looks a decent little kit, from what I remember, X20 suppressor, padded carry bag, stoeger sights, some little laser attachment thing.

I'm looking at spending 150 or so, although I've also enquired about a BSA lightning XL but am yet to hear back from that.

The ultimate question is what do you want to use it for? Pests, Target or general plinking?

I've had a BSA Lightning XL. Horrid little thing to be honest.
Also, lasers are for toys, they are of no benefit to a rifle unless you are using a laser designator on a night vision scope.

Mmm interesting, I thought the Brummy made BSA's were decent.

The laser was just what was included in the bundle, it's not something I would want :)

I've shot a few friends Lighnings XL (one Tactical and one wood stock) and both were exactly what I expected. They both felt a little rough for the money whilst shooting but I'd use them as a "workhorse" rifle which could take a few knocks and bangs in the field and still be good enough for 30yard accuracy.

All my PCP's (4 of) on the other hand have shot beautifully but felt a little fragile for serious field work even though they probably weren't. I mean unless you were shooting from a static position (ratting etc) you'd be worried everytime you banged one against a fence post as you were crossing a hedge line for example or if you had to go through bramble etc.
