ArcheAge, Ultima Online's rebirth?

Why for the gear quests though, does it give you better gear or a chance of better stats?

Yes it increases the chance of a good roll on the item. What I did was I did the quests for the top quest gear overachieved them all then waited until level 50 before opening the ? for the item.

I wanted to try fishing so i decided to try fishing at that lake, is there a place that that i can sell the fish at? I caught one but not sure what to do with it.

you need to go to the fish scale thing like in my screenshot theres one at the dock in silent lake at hunsmans retreat or whatever its called, as you are driving towards the docks its on the grass on the left side right next to the dock.

at sea fishing you have to travel all the way to a port that has them, but even enemy ports the neutral guards will protect you if you get close enough so the only danger is when your on your ship heading into port just don't go along the route the traders use and loop into port from an odd angle.

usually if you have 2-3 guys on a clipper no one will try anything and sea fishing the bait is so expensive it makes no sense to do it solo, there's usually 6-20+ of us doing it with clippers going back and fourth al the time and it's very rare any enemy decides to follow anyone even though it's obvious what we are doing.

had a green galleon destroy our fishing boat one time though but i's only 10g to repair it

Yeah, i found it eventually, i didn't have the fish stand icon enabled on my map :D. I mostly found it a waste of time to sell the fish there though so i just started casting again immediatly after hooking a fish. Hopefully i can start doing some fishing out on the sea soon.

A license to fish?:p But seriously its for a fishing boat if I remember correctly, not sure if its changed since i read about it in beta.

Level 15 Harani Demonologist on Nui, I'm enjoying the game so far.

I've found a decent build online but I think I quite like a DOT build, anyone know a good build?

Anyone got a guild on Nui (east)

Hi all, just started playing this the other day. So far I am quite enjoying it. I am currently at lvl 13 just grinding up.

Is this always going to be F2P or will it be subscription once its out of Beta?

To get started fishing there quest in Lutesong for the east, not sure where for the west, that will show you how to craft a rod and give you some bait worms to get started. About the fishing license, Tune is correct, it's one of the items needed to craft the fishing boat.

It is free-to-play yep.

Is there a self sufficient way to go fishing solo?
I've no problem crafting the rod.. It's the bait! It's expensive!
How can I get some for myself? Are there any other types than bait worm?

Sport fishing uses different types of chopped fish which you can either buy for gold or vocation points. Baitworms aren't really worth it, i bought 100 of them for about 6g the other day to try them out, i'm lucky if i got 1g worth of fish back from them. I'm just catching and releasing fish on the lake in silent forest with sport fishing for some quick proficiency, I am using vocation points to buy the chum so i don't lose anything. Sport fishing on the sea is where the real money is, i haven't tried it yet but if you look back a few pages you will see arknor posted some advice. He reccomends going with a small group and sharing the bait costs as it's not really worth it solo.

CptMalice, I've not tried fishing yet but trying to get some info on it while at work so I can start tonight.

If bait worms aren't worth it, what are you using to catch the fish in the lake? I thought sport fishing was only on the sea? (I have no clue really though).

I have a lake outside my house in Two Crowns on West side, I'm hoping I can just fish there for a bit to level it up.

Give me a few pointers so I'm good to go when I get home? :D

Edit: Ah just reread your post and saw your are using Vocation Points, do you have to get to a certain proficiency in fishing first before you can use those? I don't really understand it all atm, hard to get info at work when everything gaming is blocked.

You can do sport fishing on the lakes, the bait is chopped squid and chum.

Chum costs 600 vocation points, and if you don't bother trying to catch the fish and just cast again, you will easilly make those points back, you don't need any proficiency to start.

You might need to buy some bait from the auction house first, depending on how many points you have, but it shouldn't be too expensive.

I've got about 10k Vocation Points so should be ok :)

So I read on the sea you need to find seagulls to find spots to sport fish, in the lake I can just sport fish anywhere? Or do schools of fish appear on the lakes as well?

Sorry for the noob questions mate, appreciate the info.

Edit: Also mate..

Hopefully i can start doing some fishing out on the sea soon.

What is stopping you? Just so I know when I will be able to go out on the sea.

Yeah, it's the same on the lakes, birds will be flying around the schools of fish.

I'm just waiting until my proficiency is higher only about 4k right now, and i'm also trying to find some people to go with to share the bait costs so it's more profitable.

Oh, it's only a small lake thing in Two Crowns, I've never seen any seagulls on it before, maybe can't do it in that lake?

There is one of them fish scale thingy's at the edge of it though. Will have to look into it, cheers mate.

If there's a fish stand then there will be fish there, once a school has been fished it can take a while for another one to spawn.
