Who here owns a Renaultsport?

This thread seems dead, but I'm hoping someone here might have or know of someone with some 182 Cup springs?

Cheers!

Here is some on EBay mate

On the note of RS cars.

I have just changed from the Powerflex dogbone to new OEM and car feels so much better and no more Vibrations in the cabin.

And on a much better note, i won some EIbach Pro Springs on ebay for £62. Front and back. Will go nicely with my new Front and back Shocks :)

Finally got my new car. Though decided to cancel my new car order and go 2nd hand. Delivery date for new car kept slipping and sort of lost the will to live after 4 months.

So picked up a 3 1/2 month old x-garage car (regional sales managers car) and saved myself some £4.5k. Plus extra bonus of Renault Manchester (retail group) giving me the best part of £1k more for my trade in than Arnold Clark were going to.

Now I know not everyone likes these, but that's life... be pretty boring if we all liked the same car. Still a great car to drive, even if it does somewhat break the mould Hot Hatch wise. And "yes" even the edc box isn't as bad as some make out, in fact it's not bad at all if you give yourself time to acclimatize to it.

:):):)

How come its taking so long to build them? Its not like they are building billions?

It's a shame these got so much flack. They aren't bad cars at all, they are just such a departure from the type of car all previous RS Clios have been that its been somewhat unfairly judged against them. Nice colour too.

As to "build time" your guess is as good as mine. Garage was clueless, then again it was Arnold Clark (maybe an unfair comment!?). Even after chasing Renault UK Customer Services for weeks, they to could not give me an answer as to why the long delay. Last estimate for delivery was 31st December! And even then, they would not guarantee this! Six months plus to build and deliver a new car WTF:(

Renaults own sales figures (available on their WEB site if you do a bit of digging) show less than 600 sold into the UK since the car was launched. So at least you are guaranteed some level of exclusivity.

I think that one of the problems, is that Renault do not consider the UK a very important market these days. These cars by all accounts sell well in France and Australia (they do love their auto though).

Do tend to agree with your comment "...such a departure from the type of car all previous RS Clios...". Originally this car was so far off my radar, as not to be even on my short list. But when I had eliminated every thing else on my list (EG. Fiest ST appalling low speed ride, Juke Nismo ... no local dealer, etc.) , a mate talked me into trying one and must say I was pretty impressed.

Car not perfect, then what one is. And I accept that some folks will still not like them... but then again, that's life. As I've commented before, be a boring world if we all liked the same thing.

PS. Not knocking either of the other cars mentioned, as I'm aware some folks would not have the same issues with them as me. Just not for me.

I think its also had the misfortune to be sold with the new Fiesta ST as direct competition.

Along with all the failings from Renault it has really torpedoed the car in the UK!

Are these now 1.6 turbos?

Bet it drives great!

Briliant, slow puncture on the 182. Tempted to just replace both rear tyres, seen as they have some how managed to run for about two years! Incredible.

Very much a grain of truth in what you say me thinks :)

Though in some ways I would not personally consider the new Fiesta ST to be a direct competitor to the RS Clio. While the Fiesta ST is the more focused, hardcore small hot hatch. I would consider the RS Clio to be slightly softer, more rounded (and easier to live with on a day-to-day basis) road car of the two. The RS Clio is still a more than capable car. Very much depends on what someone is looking for.

As to sales of the RS Clio. Lets be totally honest, Renault can/could not compete with the Gargantum that Ford is, in term of sales. The Renault Sport cars have never really sold in great numbers in the UK (EG. think I've only seen one RS Megane locally).

Mind you, it might of helped sales if:
- They had pitched the price slightly lower.
- Equipment level higher on lux cars.
- Better (any!!) advertising.
- Actually able to deliver the cars when someone orders one.
- Offered a manual box as well.

Am I currently happy with my new (well 4 months old) car, Yes. Just as I suspect most Fiesta ST owners will be.

All I say to anyone interested in these cars, is ignore all the hype and go have a decent test drive. If possible, get it for an afternoon, or a complete day. As it's very much a car that needs a bit of time to acclimatize to. Again, having said all that, some folks will still decide that it's not for them (rather like I did with the Fiesta ST). That's their privilege and I respect that.

Yes, 1.6 turbo.

Drives pretty well actually. Though like most cars pushing 200BHP + through the front wheels, it can sometime overwhelm the steering. The torque vectoring system (or what ever Renault call it) that it uses, does a decent job of reining in the torque steer. A proper mechanical LSD would be nice though. Probably ruled out because of price.

Just a shame that Renault don't offer something like Ford do with the Mountune power upgrade. As by all accounts, these engines are good for 250BHP with no internal changes. Limiting factor I suspect would be the extra torque that the gear box could take. Some third parties starting to offer chip upgrades for them now, though that's obviously your warrant out of the window.

Was playing around with the Launch Control system last night (handy sometimes to live in the middle of no-where). Bit of a gimmick, but it actually works pretty well.

To be fair, I've got less than you and I've never thought "This car needs more bhp, it's too slow".

I find it almost the right amount, too much would just overkill the characteristics of the go-kart like chassis. I probably wouldn't even bother re-mapping.

Cracking looking car mikeo, fair play for bucking the trend and not going for a Fiesta ST.

Thanks.

Could quite easily have bought an ST to be honest. Great little car. It was certainly at the top of my short (well not that short actually:D) list. Almost placed an order after a short test drive, but luckily talked the dealer into letting me have it for a decent period (was already driving a fairly new / decent motor). And once the excitement of driving a new car wore off, the chinks in it's armour started to show through. While we have fantastic driving roads round here, they are in places pretty rough (being kind to the roads dept here) and the low speed ride on rough surfaces is bordering on harsh (only my personal opinion here). Quite aware this might not bother some folks and that a lot might not even think it an issue but decided it was not the car for me. Maybe I'm just getting too old:eek:

I personally think it's great that there are so many good cars to choose from these days. Good excuse for loads of test drives. Like I need an excuse.

What ever you drive. Enjoy :):):)

You are probably right to be honest.

Always easy to think "more power" = better. But often it doesn't. Just more bragging rights:)

Had a chipped Ibiza Cupra at one point and if I'm being honest, it was really far too much power for the chassis to cope effectively with. Good laugh to drive though.

If your OEM dog bone rubbers are worn just pop the bush out and rotate it 90 degrees, all the benefits of a solid mount but with no vibration! Pretty sure you can do this on the 172/182 if they use the same mount as the 16v and Williams.

It'll be interesting to see what Renault do when the inevitable facelift RS210 comes along. Will there be an option of a manual gearbox and a new "cup" setup to try and recover some ground on the Fiesta ST?

You, me and a lot of folks I suspect :)

The Juke Nismo has already had a few tweaks. Including power increase to 215bhp (obviously the same engine as the RS Clio).

I don't like the idea of an auto-box - its just wrong. Sorry.

No problem. I respect your opinion.

Same as I suspect some others wont like it because it's a 5-door, not got a bespoke body (like other RS Clios), a smaller turbo engine etc. Just life and what makes it fun:)

luv the look of the previous clio sport, however not very keen on the new shape, not aggressive enough.

Yep... I can see where you are coming from here. Rather than a bespoke body like the previous gen RS Clio's, Renault have just taken the stock Clio and added a few bits and pieces. Personally I think it looks great from some angles (rear especially) but maybe Renault have not quite gone far enough to distinguish it from the crowd. Though in Liquid Yellow, any RS fan will at least know it's an RS, as that's only ever (as far as I know) been used on Renault Sport variations.
