Who owns a Mondeo ST220 / ST TDCI?

Last year the 220's were selling in a matter of days for 3.5k plus I just can't believe mine hasn't gone for 2.9k. It's annoying as I shifted all my previous cars in less than 2 days but this is 3 weeks so far

Looing over your ad the main point that jumps out to me is no service history for 9 years, that is what is probably putting buyers off.

I also wouldn't mention the bad points and try and buff out the scuffs you mention on the bumper.

If it was mint I would say 2.6k tops to sell private with that mileage. Think u could sell it easy for 2.2k with the bubbling round the arches as I'm sure it's a fairly easy job.

Thanks for the advice. Thing is though the service history should not put people off as it was the same owner for the 9 years. If he purchased it from 11 months old probably at 20k ish hes Gonna look after it which can be seen by the condition it's in today at 11yrs old.
 
Got 2 Eagle F1s fitted today on the ST. Not noticing much different in the car but they are on the rear! Was my fronts that were badly worn but decided to put the Goodyears on the rear and move the Vredsteins from the rear to the front to wear them out a bit as they're already a few years old. With my limited mileage they'd last forever if not and start to be in danger of perishing I think.
 
I've gone from bridgestone on the front and double star on the back to PSS all round. i have to say, it has a load more grip, but the body roll is crazy and the brakes dont lock up any more. i think i'll need some decent brake pads and probably some new discs.
 
Managed 40.1 mpg on a 100mile run yesterday. speed was between 50-62mph. So if you are patient, you really can get a decent MPG.

Couldn't be arsed on the way back and got 28mpg, still not bad given what the speed was :D
 
Best I've ever managed is 35 mpg on a 100 mile run with engine already warmed up and average speed cameras the entire way pinning me back to 60mph on the singles and 70 on the duals. You did well there rybo. :p
 
I swear I've never had over 26.2 mpg despite the fact I'm on the motorway for 80% of my journey to work :eek:it's currently at 25.3 lol.
What can contribute to poor mpg as even though I drive with my foot planted at all times it still should not be that bad for near all motorway driving!
I check my tyre pressure once a week and had it serviced only 10k after the last one so what else can make the mpg so bad?
Oh and it's not looking good for selling my car I've only got 4 days left of the 28 day classified and no interest in the last 2 weeks apart from a woman asking will I take 2k as she thought it would be a nice upgrade to her 2.0 Mondeo that needs replacing :eek: it's up for 2.8k and already the cheapest 2004 for sale!

Depends on what you mean by 'driving with your foot planted at all times' - this doesn't tend to correlate with good fuel economy!

I could get pretty good economy from mine just by driving sensibly and reading the road ahead and such. No point in 'planting my foot all the time' in the heavy traffic trudge to work and back. 70mph on the motorway at a constant speed (not always mashing my foot up to 80-90mph for overtakes or whatever) would get me at least 35mpg.

E39 has the same running costs as the ST, and parts ie clutch DMF and expensive between the 2.
my E39 in 7 months of ownership has cost me zero.

the ST looks very dated too, and the interior and ride is awful.
each to their own i guess but i would choose the E39 anyday over the local mondeo taxi.

i've had 56 out of mine on vpower down the a1 to Cambridge and back. i managed 53 on the rolling road day :P. thats about the only reason to have a diesel.
