Which basically means it was serviced when she bought it and the missing stamps for the last 3 years are because she hasn't had it serviced because shes a typical woman driver who hasn't got a clue. With a performance style car that can be tempramental it's a recipe for disaster

Twice should be OK for 3 years/17K miles I believe.

Note how I said "at least once" though. It might have been done more than once. It was last done about 2 months ago apparently.

Anything remotely older (when I first got here) had nothing, no one recorded anything. Everyone tends to get oil changes every 3k miles anyway because it costs $40 to get Jiffy Lube to do it lol. I quickly gave up looking for cars with a history, simply couldn't find any anywhere. New cars will have dealer history etc, mine's going in tomorrow for it's 12k oil change in fact.

Its just an easy way to describe it, I tend to say "coming onto cam" and "coming off of cam" which doesn't make sense either, because the cam is always spinning and it is just switching to different lifters, or whatever...

VVTL-I = Variable Valve Timing and Lift, so retards just latch onto the "lift" bit, ignoring the fact that it's just one part of what happens at high RPM.

Honda's VTEC also changes valve timing and lift, but Honda owners seem content to call it VTEC.

Aren't you being a bit pedantic? Lift is just a shorter and more cooler way of saying vvtl-i kicked in y0!

Technically it's not wrong either because the engine lifts the valves more at higher revs, so fo sho lift has just kicked in and your power boost has arrived!

yeah and its a good thing, Yamaha work on engine designs for lots of manufacturers when it comes to performance engines.

The word Yamaha is also prominent on the casting of the 2zz head, its not exactly a secret.

Although not sure if the 2jz, the greatest of them all was a Yamaha design, I seem to remember it isn't.

it is only if you want it to be, you obviously want to paint it as the detriment of Toyota, but the fact is they do lots in house, take Toyota motosport gmbh, why do several f1 teams use this facility? its because its hugely respected and several company's look to them for assistance.

not all parts for engines are made by the manufacturer that sticks its badge on the car. nothing new.

Guys, I don't know what tyres are currently fitted to the car (only that they are all legal and that two of them were replaced a few months ago) - but I will have a close look at them of course.

Are tyres with an incorrect speed rating illegal? Or, are they going to invalidate insurance? I believe the 'rolla should have V rated tyres, but if it has been owned by someone who isn't a car person, it might have ended up with lower speed rating tyres on it.

I plan on getting a set of new tyres anyway, but if the currently fitted ones are illegal/insurance invalidating, then I could use that as a bargaining chip.
