Couple of Corolla T-Sport questions!

If there's one thing that annoys me about these Toyota engines, it's the fanboys calling the the variable valve timing "lift". All four stroke engines have valve lift.

Maybe that's because you don't understand the definition of Lift used in this context

No different to when vtec is referred to as vtec kicked in when its only the dohc vtec units that have this feature

Vvti and vtec, vvtli and vtec dohc

It does have more lift than the standard cam though so i don't see a problem in calling it that, no different to vtec's more aggressive cam lobe in principle.

He put low insurance down as one of the pros of the Corolla. I can't see a supercharger keeping premiums down.

Also you paid £4k to supercharge the celica or is that including the car purchase?

There's no way 4k inludes the car, gt model demands a premium price for some stick on plastic, alacantra some springs

It also has lots of recent service history documents missing, and the owner has relaxed a bit and her emails read like she is off a rough council estate. (she isn't) - though I've never read "aint" in an email before. Thats new! :p

Well that's Dudley for you.

When I worked at a Toyota dealership I had the pleasure of driving a Corolla Compressor, that thing was a great hoot to drive, I also drove a normal Corolla T Sport like the OP is looking at, nice little cars if you can get a good example for a good price.

The Corolla Comp is a different car to the normal T Sport. Lift comes in sooner and the sound of that charger :)

As for 0-60 time it's closer to 7 seconds than 8. Doesn't matter about that though. As someone has said. The handling isn't great as standard but otherwise it's a good car.

Also lift kicks in yo around 6200rpm

Actually VTEC also "kicks in" on the SOHC units, but only on the intake valves as opposed to exhaust and intake valves.

The SOHC ones also change cam lobes you know, one of them even has 3 profiles.

Yes there is sohc too, I had a d16y8 in a civic coupe ej8. I'm comparing two dohc engines I get your points but most aren't for performance they are for economy

Of course I understand it, it's the Toyota fanboys that clearly don't.

VVTL-I = Variable Valve Timing and Lift, so retards just latch onto the "lift" bit, ignoring the fact that it's just one part of what happens at high RPM.

Honda's VTEC also changes valve timing and lift, but Honda owners seem content to call it VTEC.

vvtl-i doesn't roll of the tounge quite as easily as vtec does, but referring it to being on the higher lift lobe of the cam, by shortening it to just lift, is that really that unreasonable?.

I wasn't a big fan of calling it lift at first but it stuck, but your right anyone who uses it is obviously a retard for using a word that's easier and quicker to say whilst getting the point across...

do you think everyone who says vtec to describe the changeover would use it if they had not just heard or read someone else use it? do they all know what It stands for? the answer is no. They must be retard fanboys.

The hilarious claim of a low 6s time, just no

if that's in reference to my claimed 6.4s then the car wasn't stock, it had some weight reduction and had a different intake and backbox and was measured on a g-tech, so not going to be totally accurate nor would I claim it to be.

I have seen over the years a few properly measured times in the low 6's, I'm not going to claim they were completely stock, but I don't think any had any significant mods, just bolt on's and maybe some weight reduction. Also you have to be quite brutal with the gearshift to catch the Variable Valve Timing and Lift (VVTL-I) change over between 1st and 2nd or you will be lucky to even get a sub 7 second time, traction control needs to be off as well or it bogs, you'd be lucky to get much below about 7.5 seconds with traction control on.

Really not sure how that makes someone a retard or even a fanboy, its just easier to say than VVTLI

Just to demonstrate that I'm not rushing in without first asking a lot of questions... (these are the replies from her :p)

It will also be thoroughly looked over, I will hopefully speak with the person who serviced it on the phone, and I will get a check done on the car tomorrow.

bloody hell  she will have a restraining order slapped on u for harassment before u even get chance to look at the car at the weekend :D lol
if anyone messaged me that much about my car for sale i think i would stop replying after the first few questions. Forget all the questions u should have just told her to throw 12 months mot on it tommorow.

Those are the messages from her by the way - in some cases she sent a couple of replies to a single one of my emails etc, and that is over the course of about a week. :p

Wow, why didn't you just.. phone her up?!

It is easier to do it like this, I can ask a question as I think of it, and it doesn't matter where I am or what I'm doing. A lot of that was when I was at work.
