Assassin's Creed Syndicate thread.

Assassin's creed syndicate

Can't see a PC thread, am I missing it?
Anyway it started preload at 5pm in the uk on Uplay. Said 20 minutes for 37Gb but it looks more like an hour or so.
Looking forward to Thursday.
Andi.

I think I'm gonna pick this up eventually. People actually playing the game all seem to be pretty high on it, and I'm interested in an AC game set in London anyways.

With my internet speeds, it's going to take about 4 continuous days of downloading. Best set it going this evening!

Have never played an AC game before, but was fortunate to pick up a code from someone giving it away

I caved in and grabbed a cheap Bullets or Blades keys a couple of days ago, it was a no-brainer for the sort of price I paid. I always end up playing AC games for the setting alone and most console users are saying Syndicate's rather fun and runs well,

Hopefully, Ubi won't pull another Unity on us.

EDIT: preloading at 9.8Mb/s, should be done in a while

I got the code when i bought my gpu, think im gonna wait to see how it plays before i redeem or sell.

As expected, there are already some alarming threads concerning the performance and buginess of the game on PC (they're probably using cracked versions, though) so maybe I was a bit too hopeful.

We shall see tomorrow, I guess:p

Put in about 3 hours now and so far it seems to be running fairly well. Not had any breaking glitches so far, but only done 2 sequences and some free-roam.

Visually its quiet stunning much like Unity once cranked up but it can be pretty demanding at that stage, thankfully SLI seems to work fairly well. I expect complaints about performance will be related to this mainly.

Few quirks for me so far is that the game will launch into Ultra wide be default but you cant actually see the option which seems stupid. Also the Hud and what not are positioned as if your on a 2560 x 1440 screen so are part way in on an Ultrawide. Pretty annoying.

Thoughts on the free running? I'm worried the hook has killed the game.

I really, really like Unity. So I'm hoping I'll like this too.

I'm going to give this a try later. I haven't finished an AC game since the original (which I loved), so I haven't had to endure the dodgy moments it's had. Plus, I love games set in Victorian London. :)

Rushed through the intro sections just to get to London and check the performance. I got some pretty awful stuttering during Evie's mission but in London I seem to be getting 45-60fps at 1440p with a GTX 970. That's with everything maxed except AA (left FXAA on), PCSS shadows and HBAO+ ultra (shadows on high and HBAO+). Pretty much the same framerates I was getting in Unity at 1080p but without crashes so far:p

At 1080p, it's pretty much solid 60fps. Seems quite fun and looks very good but I doubt it'll be able to unhook me from MGS V, especially that I only play 1-2h in a single session.

Free Running is pretty good so far for myself, identical to the Unity mechanics. I Don't have the hook yet as I believe is something you get in the next sequence.

@ Amatsubu: Yeah I think PCSS Shadows does hit the fps somewhat. May want to try them a notch lower and i think you should hold 60 fps a lot smoother.

After about 12 hours of downloading, mine still had an estimated 13 hours to go as of this morning. Might be able to play after about 10pm tonight...

Similar experience here - had a very quick go before work this morning. Jacob's sequence played beautifully, but Evie's was stuttering quite badly, especially in the trees om the left hand side of the level.

Gave up at that point, hopefully some new Nvidia drivers by the time I get home from work that are optimised for the game

My shadows are already on high, I didn't even think about enabling PCSS:p Resolution is definitely the biggest killer in my case, I might actually settle for 1080p. I've got a 32" monitor and sit at a reasonable distance, so it doesn't look too bad.

Saying that, it's still very playable at 1440p almost maxed, mostly sits around 50fps average. Looks very good as well.

Depending on the visual hit, I might be willing to decrease shadows to medium but I'm not sure if this is going to help. Dropping environment detail from ultra to very high has had a minimal impact on performance.
