Football manager 2016

Is there a hidden "adaptability" stat like the staff maybe? If I have another squad member who speaks their language and english already I don't bother they seem to get "English (basic)" fairly quickly anyway.

What skins are you all using? I had Steklo for FM15 but can't find anything I like or that is bug-free yet this year.

The one thing that drives me to complete rage in this game is when you do highlights you know what is coming.

Ball at halfway
You go right back to keeper

It is then inevitable your keeper will try a long ball which will be cut out and they will score (or have a near miss) there are passes on, dribbles on.... Dumb **** long ball. Sigh.

There's a head shaped dent in my desk at the moment - my normally decent GK has started taking bungs :(

That first one against Barnsley is exactly the type of thing that ***** me off. Maybe one keeper, out of all the clubs in the league, once every season would possibly make a mistake like that.

The 3D match engine has been one of the worst things about FM for a while, wish they'd either develop it to a watchable standard or go back to the drawing board. No one is expecting FIFA graphics, just players that don't ice skate or become allergic to the match ball. //rantover//

Allergic to the match ball :D

See that so often, defender 20 yards ahead of the striker gets near the ball and runs around it in a circle like its a primed hand grenade then the striker walks up and scores :p

How's everyone getting on? I finally got myself into a save, having to try relive the glory days of FM12 with my second greatest ever save - Fiorentina. (Plymouth Argyle was my best).

I disabled transfer window in first season, removed use of editor and off I go. Sitting 5th in the league, 1 point spreads the top 5 after 15 games and need to draw final Europa League game against Man Utd to progress.

No signings so far, got Mammana coming in Jan for £5 million but that's all my funds gone :/

Losing both LB's on frt at end of season but hopefully the board will throw me £15 million so I can rebuild the squad and maybe sell Rossi for £20+ million.

Forgot how tough it can be but much more fun when you can't throw £30 million on a 17 yr old. Italian league is ninja with Roma, Juve, Lazio, Napoli, Milan all being full of class players. Inter are 16th and Mancini was sacked last week.

Edit: Anyone thinking of trying Italy then I recommend Fiorentina (diakhate/rossi/boubacar/astori) or Sassulo who have a few wonderkids.

I think there is probably a hidden "intelligence" stat that used to be displayed in earlier versions of the game.

Aye, and if one of your players misplaces a pass and they will 80%(just rough estimate) will score, from anywhere on the pitch.

This is seemingly getting worse with each release.

2016 has ****ed me off more than 2015, 2015 more than 2014 etc. it's getting daft now and a chore to play. I've got enough flipping stress!

Anyone had any regen wonderkids yet? I've got my Nuneaton into the Champs and have managed to find a couple of freebies who I sold on the following season for a big profit. But they are certainly nothing that special compared to the type of 17 year old I've been used to at a higher tier. Overall I'm finding this year's release more difficult, but more rewarding.

Well, 2019 and got my Spanish B4 team to la liga, trying to get Euro qualification and seem to have a solid formation at last, a cosistant one.

How long does it take you guys to bring a club in the lowest league to win top honours?

Don't want to leave club but think I might have to to win something as my wage allowance is 325k, with no transfer money, which is 1 players wages in this league in some cases...

Love the challenge though!

Took me about 6 years with Plymouth on FM 12, think they were in League 2 about to go bust.

I've got a solid tactic going with Fiorentina at the moment, went on a 10 game winning run without conceding. Got the little steam achievement for parking the bus which has made me far happier than it should lol.

So much more interesting when you get into a save properly, hopefully the Fiorentina one will keep me going a good 100+ hours.

been putting a lot of time into this last few days.

Took over FC United of Manchester, predicted to finish 18th in first season. Did very well for the first half of the season, at half way I was 5th in the league. After that, injuries, and general poor form lead to much stumbling and eventually finished 16th.

Next season, predicted to finish 16th, hovered around 12th until about halfway through the season and then went on something like a 18 game run without losing, and gradually climbed up to the table so that with 2 games left i took the lead. Penultimate game, played 2nd who were 3 points behind me, much better goal difference. Held a draw against them to keep the gap, and then drew my last game of the season to win the league by a single point :D

Now, promoted, and getting absolutely smashed. Like, destroyed. Tried various different tactics, 4-5-1, 5-4-1, 4-3-3, 4-5-1, 4-3-2-1, counter, attacking, defensive, counter again. Nothing is working. Played 27, won 1, drawn 4, lost 23.... I think 12 points or so til team above me in 23rd, and about 18 points from safety with 19 games left.

Think I may be going back down :p

It's really, really difficult, or is it me? I go sacked as Stockport manager in my first season, then got a job with Nuneaton and have done well. But am now stuck in the Champs. It's 2022 currently and it took me 5 years to get them to that level from the lowest playable tier. I've done okay this season, considering the injuries and the fact my chairman likes to sell my best players from underneath me! It looks like I'm going to finish around 10th. But god knows how I am supposed to get promotion.

My best tactic so far is a 4222 using wingers. I'm focussing on short passing play and retention using the width of the pitch. It's definitely working, but I sometimes lack consistency and that is what I need to work on.

I got this kid through the ranks at Pescara. He's the cream of the crop so far. Best thing about him is that he doesn't have a silly fashionable haircut like every other regen I've seen :p
