Football manager 2016

Think I may be going back down :p

That's what I love about FM. I hate these 'just won the treble with Norwich in first season' BS stories on some of the FM sites. Blatantly using editor or the classic save and reload tactic.

Much more realistic/frustrating when you can't win or your team gets a group injury

It's really, really difficult, or is it me? I go sacked as Stockport manager in my first season, then got a job with Nuneaton and have done well. But am now stuck in the Champs. It's 2022 currently and it took me 5 years to get them to that level from the lowest playable tier. I've done okay this season, considering the injuries and the fact my chairman likes to sell my best players from underneath me! It looks like I'm going to finish around 10th. But god knows how I am supposed to get promotion.

I'm trying to emulate my 2012 Fiorentina save and it has been nails, I've had a few saves with Newcastle, Arsenal, Spurs and Liverpool started to try get into it and finally got stuck into this Italian save. It is much harder than previous versions and there aren't any glaringly obvious flaws like the old corner trick etc. Makes the achievements much more sweeter like turning round indifferent form into a water tight defence :D

anyone suggest a decent tactic for Liverpool?

I reckon something like this - (I've just moved them into the positions I suspect would benefit Liverpool, this formation doesn't suit my team in Serie A)
v3v9xv3.png

Maybe Lucas/Allen/Henderson at DM,
Henderson/Milner/Allen at CM
Sturridge wide left as IF
Coutinho as AM
Firminho wide right as adv playmaker
Benteke as Complete forward

Also could push that DM up alongside the other CM for home games or weaker teams I suspect.

My current narrow tactic with Pescara - could suit Liverpool:

FB-S
CD
CD
FB-S

DLP-S
CM-D
CM-A

SS
SS

F9

Counter, very fluid, high tempo, close down more etc.

It isn't what you would call solid, but I create plenty of chances.

Just taken over Liverpool half way through season 2 got offered the job after getting promoted to the spl with rangers(just)

Board were unhappy st sitting 8thvin January so I've jumped :)

I may do this next time i get a job offer. Jump ship :p Got over 1000 manager points last season so my 'stock' may still be riding high so to speak.

However, I'm sulking now. FC United, changed my tactics back to 4-3-3 attack, went and got 2 wins and a draw in 4 games, then stopped working and now back to losing. Want to carry it on, but also tempted to jack it in, and start with a sky bet league 1 team expected to do very well, take them into championship and see if i can get them up into premier league.

Think i'll give it another day or so and make a decision

EDIT: Just to make it clear, i'm not getting job offers from PL clubs, just clubs further up the Vanarama National which I'm currently falling way off the bottom of.

No it isn't just you mate. It seems I've done okay, first season I was one match from the sack. Had a few job offers, the ones I attended I didn't get so now I just reject an approach. I'm 6th in la liga now with Jaen, but we always have a bad end of season and I fear another mid table finish which I'm bored with. May have to be less loyal.

started so promising,

won the first 3 then got pumped off Leciester

Certainly is. I'm expecting the sack any day now at Leyton Orient, second season in the championship and sitting in 15th only 6wins in 21games :( Managed to finish 9th last year but all the players I bought in just haven't performed at all or got long term injured. My main buy in the summer was a relatively unknown italian AMC but attribute wise is amongst the best in the league with great previous stats - this year 0 assists and 1 goal in 21

I'm struggling with Liverpool too, after an opening day win against Man Utd season has been very inconsistent. It didn't help that I disabled transfer budget in the first window so I have to work with what I got.

Same here. Amazing stat players just don't do the business a lot of the time. What determination has he got?

15 determination 14 work rate, those are 2 of the first things I look for due to high pressing style. I have some very good players on paper just can't find that sweet spot with tactics. Back to the drawing board end of season I guess, if I make it that far

I'm finding this incarnation a lot tougher than the last where if you nailed the right cheese tactic you were bullet proof.

Really struggling to get into a save, got Newcastle 4th first season but good bored mid way through second season. Had a go with Barca and Arsenal but not really getting settled.

Trying an AFC Wimbledon save, just started up and going to see how it goes. Just want to get into a game like '15 where in 6 seasons I reached the PL with Gateshead :p

Consistency is the biggest issue for me. Hidden attribute too so you wouldn't necessarily know but this can explain why some players with amazing stats under perform.

Must be the hidden consistency stat, only thing I can think of. Good luck mate.

I never start with a high profile side. Less goals to aim for and a lot less satisfaction. I start with my favourite Spanish side Jaen, who are in B4, the lowest league you can play in Spain. Just tried for the Newcastle job, might of got it but a high profile manager came in for it at the last minute :( (Ashley isn't there either)

I must say, i very much like the Purple of Fiorentina.

Anywho, I applied for the job at Sheffield Wednesday and was offered the job 7 games before the end of the season.

Pretty much tore the backroom to absolute pieces immediately. For the first team I was advised 7 coaches, and they had 2?!? One fitness coach and the other a goalkeeping coach! Both were poor so they were removed anyway, now got 7 coaches in, been allowed to have up to 10.

Results went well, 2-1 win, 2-1 loss, 6-1 win, 4-1 win, a 2-1 win, 3-2 win, and a 1-0 loss last game of the season to Wolves(dominated the game too :( )

In the transfer window at the moment trying to ditch quite a few players. Bought in Sergio Romero(2.3m) and Jose Enrique (55k) for a bit of experience.

Now happy with the team :)

La Viola are the underachievers in Italy. Decided against Arsenal job, they were offering budgets of £66,000,000 and £2,900,000 but it would have been too easy as they already brought in Higuain in January.

Just brought in Driussi for £5.75 million which is great but Ljalic was released from Roma!! and I almost signed him but forgot I can only bring in 2 non EU players per season so the board cancelled the transfer

Just trying to overhaul the dead weight ready for CL campaign.
