Need the quad too! ;)

Where abouts in buckinghamshire are you?

Oh right.

Near Milton Keynes. Remind me, have you owned any quads before? You can get them for £40 or less for a starter one

LOL.....thats awesome!

Re:Lipo batteries, I can only hope. Previously ordered 2x Tenergy extended duration Lipo's from a USA based seller and when they arrived at the Global Shipping Centre, they were stopped from progressing any further. Hence my new order placed with Banggood.

I've got a hubsan x4 h107l and nano qx 3d at the moment. Decided to hold off fpv as I just can't afford it at the moment. I'm thinking I might start with building my own.

I've watched the series on Hak5 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z2zY6NSy_BI

No idea if that build is any good, but it was a useful series which went through a lot of the basics.

I'll go down the route of building my own, or, more than likely I'll butcher the EF250 and Frankenstein it.

Fpv can be done cheaply, but I guess that depends how 'easy' you want it to be. The quad I have is under £155 and fpv ready, all you need is a receiver (goggles/screen) and you're good to know. There are other things you can purchase which are worth it (obv. Batteries, but things like a low voltage alarm)

Saying that, I own a jjrc h11c and they do a h11d model that is fpv, obv only does 50metres if that but it may give you a fix for now.

I think my steps are going to be...

Purchase a proper TX, and hubsan module to plug in to the simulator port....
Accumulate funds.....
Build a 250mm quad.....practice some more LOS
Accumulate funds....
Add extras such as fpv

Finally sorted my 250 quad out tuning wise after a year of it sitting on the side, RAIN! Nothing but rain since....Oh well, It gives me time to fit my new thicker arms as the stock ZMR250 ones are too thin and vibrate like crazy.

@ A[L]C

My 250 consists of,
ZMR250 frame with upgraded arms that are thicker.
Naze32 acro
FRSky D4R-II receiver
TS5823 Mini 5.8Ghz 32CH 200mW Wireless Skyzone fpv Transmitter (only tested this to tune pids but seems ok so far.)
Super Simple Mini OSD
5v UBEC (for fpv camera but will be getting a new cam with higher accepted input voltage)
Sony superhad II 600tvl cc1333 fpv camera (Again, will be replaced soon so i dont need the UBEC)
4x Afro 20A slim ESC's
4x Multistar Elite 2204-2300KV (don't think I'd get these again, Will change for cobra or t-motors next)
5x45 props.

I would probably just get Eachine falcon 250 ARF and a TX of your choice if it's your first 250, Seems pretty good value and it's ready for fpv if/when you have goggles/monitor for a very cheap price. Yes it will need a few minor mods to get the best out of it but it flies well out of the box from the reviews I have read. Someone here has one and posted on the last page.

Hi I'm new to this and want to pick up a drone for filmings motocross events etc.

I've been looking at the DJI phantom 3 standard but its the Advance worth the extra?

I've got the falcon spooky, of be flying tonight if it wasn't damp here :p

Doesn't matter if it's for commercial purposes. If it's not then you're fine, but still familiarise yourself with the legalities of what you can and can't do.

This. If there is no financial gain you should be fine.

Was hoping to take my 250 out for a spin this weekend as I'd have the whole carpark at work free to use, but alas, looks like the weather will be against me.. on the other hand, gives me a little more time to add silly sounds to the taranis, and make sure that the new fpv stuff is all secure.

How good is it? A mate is looking to buy one soon.

Decent. Quick. That and because it's a zmr250 clone basically there's a load of knowledge kicking about already.

Only.negatoves I've found so far are the lack of a stock low voltage meter and lack of OSD on fpv (they have it on the racer but not this one? :/)

Other than that I love it for a first hobby grade quad. I'll need to tune it to be able to get fancy with it though with regards to flips and rolls I think.
