Who here owns a Fiesta ST?

I guess its been covered already but I cant go through all the pages today :D

Normal petrol or Vpower? was going to fill out with the more powerful stuff to test fuel eco and performance. Currently averaging about 38mpg on standard.

Maybe some has already tested this and can tell me if I'm wasting my time or its worth it please...

V-Power every day! :p

Booked in to the dealers on Monday with a long list of niggles:

Vibration through pedals and steering. More of a buzzing than a wobble
Grinding/crunching feeling through the steering at low speed
Grinding feeling through the steering wheel moving very slowly in traffic
Knock from suspension over bumps
Grinding brakes (think this one is normal though)
Tappy engine but again think this is normal

Not too happy to be honest, it's a brand new car. Doesn't feel it to drive it, feels likes it's been abused! :(

The 13 plate/30k one I test drove had none of those issues. I suggest you politely request that they are sorted out as something needs attention. Maybe all of the issues are related.

I used to V-Power a lot but I'm sure all the Shell stations near me have price gouged it enough to take the **** now. Generally I fill up with Sainsbury's Super Unleaded or failing that Tesco Momentum 99.

Booked in again for next week. The guy on the phone seemed actually interested this time so fingers crossed they take the time to look at it properly.

I lied about the tappy engine though, just seems to be a direct injection thing at idle.

I think the rest sounds like either a top mount issue or broken spring.

I've been using mostly (non-supermarket) regular unleaded and never had any issues in the 40k miles mine has done. With the MP215 upgrade too.

I've also not noticed any difference in performance. It did improve the MPG slightly on the mk2 Focus ST I had before, but not on my Fiesta.

Thinking about getting one of these next. My 2010 cupra 240bhp is quick but it's a heavy car in comparison to the fiesta - wondering if it will feel quicker in the fiesta?

Only cupra I've driven was a k1 a few years ago. Compared to that the Fiesta is definitely more agile, the steering is sharper and theres a lot more feel to it. It's a harder ride though.

Meh, i just use normal 95 (esso, BP or Shell normally).

You get a little pipe from the engine bay to the cabin so you get a nice bit of induction noise when you boot it. Standard exhaust is a little quiet but sounds good.

going to test drive a fiesta st today, 55 plate, anything i should look out for/any tips?

check the power steering fluid. it should be a nice cherry red. if its a very dark red/black looking it means it hasn't been changed. not a deal breaker by any means but use it to negotiate money off (the power steering pipework is only short and the heat from the engine cooks the fluid over time. it will eventually knacker the pump. regular fluid changes are essential)
check that all jacking point covers are present (2 on each side) and wheelnut covers on the alloys. (25quid each i think to replace)
what milage is on it? timing chain on these engines so no cambelt to do, but listen for any rattle.
check the plastic seat handles that allow the seat to pop forward to let people in the back aren't broken. they are a bit delicate and heavy handedness snaps them.
check aircon and heated front windscreen works.
i think there is a buying guide on the fiesta ST forums, worth a quick look over.
is there a link to the ad so we can have a look?

Looking at buying a Fiesta ST-3 in the near future. Not sure if I'm going to go blue or white (with orange seats) yet. Debating the ST200, but I just can't see the extra £2000 value over the ST-3 + Mountune.

Am I mad with the new Fiesta just around the corner? Or is the general consensus from the Ford community that they will do their usual and wait 3+ years for the new one to arrive?

New shape Fiesta is probably not that far away, yes. The next ST model will be a few good years away yet though.

Not quite true, I have owned a 06 plate for 5 over years now, the PS fluid gets changed annually and it goes black within a day of fresh fluid. Still on the original pump and it is fine!

Also check the top mounts as they like to collect water and perish.

Thats bud I'll give it a read.

Really that cheap? What kind of example should I be looking at for 2.5k?

I paid £2375 for this at the start of the year as I had a Fiesta ST before so fancied another but I'm too old for them now, did sell it a month or so later for £2900 though lol.
