Carrying something for self defence

I knew a groundsman who carried the most ridiculously powerful torch. If he was on rounds he had it at bright. If he met *******s it went up to blinding. They generally ran off, plan B was fur razor blade on a lead.

How about one of these?

classy option ... defend your land 'like a sir' :D

Itd get tricky if a court decided you were carrying an item exclusively for the purpose of self defence, and tbh even if you just grab whatevers near you'll still need to justify why you had to use a weapon.

I guess if your a farmer then walking around with a shotgun for "varmint" purposes is fine for a deterrent, who's to say the varmints have 4 legs? However if you end up having to use it then your going to have a fun time dodging jail afterwards.

One thing to remember though, weapons get you killed, the more dangerous you are the more threat they'll see and the more violence they'll use to deal with you if they dont chicken out.

auto air pistol perhaps, idk that might be illegal now

Afaik anything over 1.3j muzzle energy or 1j in northern ireland gets considered a firearm now and therefore illegal.

That law is to allow airsoft guns which wouldnt make a good defence weapon, sure it stings and could take an eye out if your lucky but it'd be more use as a club than a firearm.

Again, if it scares them off then good but if not your gonna be in deep trouble. And whilst not illegal, a jury might question why you felt like carrying an airsoft gun around your property apart from as a weapon. Although tbf if someone broke into your house then you could get away with it in the same way you could get away with anything else.

Something you should never leave home without, a manly boxing stance. Perhaps say "caaaam orn, put em up" whilst rolling your fists under your chin.

Can of deodorant and a lighter.

Basically, so long as it's "improvised" and you had a decent reason for carrying it BEFORE using it for self defence, you're generally ok.

in all seriousness, confidence is the best weapon. some people are born naturally confident, but it is also something that can be learned.

It works throughout the animal kingdom (Of which Humans are only a small part)

If you look like being altogether too much trouble, the predators will leave you alone.

seriously if the sites that bad say something to your boss if your supposed to be security. min wage isnt worth getting beaten up over.

So if I whacked an intruder with my Lodge frying pan, I'd be alright?

On topic, from what you said the site might be pretty bad. If you are Security, find out if you can use (and get trained on) batons, I hear they're quite effective, or even better ask your boss to have a big, seriously looking dog to help you on your job :)

Are there even any laws against carrying weapons on private property? As far as I am aware you can carry what you like at your own peril if an incident arises.

A crossbow is a good option.

if the weapon is preplaced i think you can get in trouble.

ie, someone breaks in you grab the baseball bat you keep by the door for just such a scenario and beat them = can be in big trouble.

piuck upthe bat from where it just happens to be lying as you pass = ok.
