What film did you watch last night?

Apparently it didn't go down like that in reality at all, the film captures the accident investigation team in a harsh, negative light.

What actually happened was far less brutal, they were simply asking the questions that needed to be asked to ensure flight safety was increased going forward. It was not a finger pointing scenario as the film portrays.

But of course, it's a movie, and you need a villain of sorts.

Anyway, I thought the film was a strong 8/10.

That and Clint Eastwood is a bit on the "health and safety gone mad" bandwagon, so any scrutiny whatsoever is too much in his book.

We Need to Talk About Kevin is probably the grimmest thing I've seen at the cinema.

WNTTAK is an excellent movie, I will never in my life watch it again though, utterly depressing.

Agreed. It's terrifying, really scary. It's just horrific to think you could have a child like that and be literally unable to control them or do anything with them.

That's what I meant by it may put you off having kids. What IF your child turned out like that?!

Rogue One 6/10 - not a SW nut but enjoyed it nonetheless. Lost points on the CGI which was utterly distracting on one of the main characters. Was like watching a cutscene from a game made in 2010.

What We Do In The Shadows 9/10 - Been on list for a while as heard good things. Absolute gem of a "documentary" about vampires. Hunt For The Wilderpeople is now next to see - definitely a talented director.

13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi 9/10 - another one I caught up on after positive reviews from friends. Very gripping and tense story, well acted and very little 'Murica bravado nonsense. Think 'Pain and Gain' Michael Bay, not the other guff.

Passengers 7.5/10.

Enjoyable sci-fi with the lovely Jennifer Lawrence and, the not so lovely but I like him anyway, Chris Pratt.

Guardians of the Galaxy.

One of the very few films that I'll happily watch over and over again. 9/10.

Morgan.

Looks great from the trailer (no surprise) but what a load of boring rubbish. I was waiting for something to happen, then when it did, idiots they're all idiots. 3/10

Sausage Party.

A load of nonsense, but it's pretty amusing throughout. 6/10

The autopsy of Jane Doe.

Morbidly creepy yet visually brilliant details. I was more concerned about how calm the guy and his son through the numerous ordeals. Although I guess living and working with dead bodies might ,make you that way.

Enjoyed it with the lights off and headphones on. Spooky stuff.

Sully 6.5/10 - It was a decent effort but a bit dull. Tom Hanks with the predictable middle of the road performance, like every movie he's ever been in it seems.

Hard Eight (1996) 7/10 - It's deliberately slow I think, really only kicks off in last third but enjoyable overall.

Little Children (2006) 8/10 - Kate Winslet is great in this, was quite dark at times with some uncomfortable themes you don't see often in mainstream movies

moon. i just did not get into that one, i usually like that type of film too.

Moon- Seen it before, but not for quite a while. It really is very good. 9/10

The person I was watching it said, when I described what it was about, "oh so it is just like The Martian", and I kind of agreed it is a bit similar, but after rewatching this, I think it is a far superior film.

Moon had a very 1970's sci fi feel to it, a little like Silent Running.

The Running Man - 8/10

80s Arnie cheesefest ... the intro was shocking though ...

"By 2017 the world economy has collapsed. Food, natural resources and oil are in short supply. A police state, divided into paramilitary zones, rules with an iron hand."

Probably just a couple of years too early :p
