*** Zelda: Breath of the Wild ***

Such an amazing game ! Can't wait for the dungeon dlc later in the year and I haven't even finished the main game yet !

It really is a masterpiece!. Its easy to be critical on certain aspects of the game, but thats kind of exciting as it highlights huge potential moving forward for the series.

I haven't got any DLC yet (I feel its best to experience the game without it first, unless you want to start on Master), but I still find myself going back to explore the world. I've got a bunch of specific locations marked on my map where I dont think I've been or have fully explored.

I don't know if this was just me being thick but I used to run at the dragonfly type bugs like a nutter to catch them. I recently was creeping up to an enemy with some around them and they don't run/disappear if you walk up to them slowly. Need to try this on the extra life ones but it works for all the others. Feel like an idiot for playing about 100 hours without knowing the best way to catch them.

Yeah I think this the case for all critters/creatures you can capture. I liked using the Stealth Armor for much of the game as it makes capturing critters far easier - most things can be caught while moving at normal speed if you have the full set equipped. It's also one of my favourite looking sets and the nightime speed bonus is nice too.

I want to slow down my main quest a bit. I've done 56 shrines but 2 heavenly beast and gerudo one is ready for me. Think I'm going to take it a bit easy on the main quest and do some shrine quests and things.

Just got to Goron , wow this game just keeps on surprising me how good it is even after 60 hours in ! And the contrast between areas is brilliant ..

This is one of the best games I've ever played

What I find interesting is that I normally don't find these kind of RPGs enjoyable. Like Skyrim..bored the hell out of me. But due to the way it's done and played...there is just something different. Incredibly addictive and enjoyable!

I'd echo that statement. Normally I find games like this waaaaay to open and with so much to do that I just think I can't be bothered and never come back to them. E.g I got Oblivion on the 360 escaped the castle, realised the scale of the game and never started it up ever again. BOTW however I can spend the entire day playing, not really do that much but still come back wanting more.

Same here. I've run out of steam on every RPG but this works for me. You can play in quite a relaxed way, pottering about, or do more intense quests as you please.

I did exactly the same with Oblivion on PC.

we just started the game and so far its incredible. Not played a zelda game since N64.
Quite daunting with the amount you can do but so far so good! Any tips for a beginner? So far i have only manged to get 3 orbs and a cold coat thing

Well it depends on what works for you. For me where the map is so massive I am not rushing through and unlocking the map. I am exploring each area thoroughly before moving onto the next bit. Keeps things fresh and then gives me direction :)

Where abouts are you?

I think for me the appeal lies in the art style of the game being fun rather that gritty and 'real'. Coupled with nothing feels like a chore to do and it's a real winner for me.

I used to be big in to achievements (once raced a mate to see who would get to 100k first on the xbox) and still like getting them when I can but I've sunk so many hours in to this (over 60) for nothing but the satisfaction of play the game.

Right?! Its flexible around you without letting you get bored. One thing I've always enjoyed about Zelda games is the charm and comedy with the characters. This delivers as well. I didn't play yesterday as I had a work party but I am itching for work to finish so I can jump straight back in.

Interestingly my wife is also interested in playing it. And shes not a gamer! She gamed a bit when she was younger and has seen older Zelda games but never played one. But this she wants to give a go!

The game is a genuine masterpiece. To me at least.

Completely OT and random too but every time I get to one of the rolling hills and it just opens up to an epic vista I still go wow each time even though by now I know what's coming.

Comes across as very fanboy but this game alone and the hours I have and will still put in to it have made my switch great value for money :) When you break it down in to cost/hours of play.

Ummmmm on my way to get the 4th orb.
But yeah im spending quite a bit of time walking everywhere

I'm at 114 shrines now I think but these last 6 are proving tricky. The heros path has been a massive help. There were bits near the great plateau that I hadn't even walked over. Even now I still love playing this game.

If there's one tip I'd give: question everything you see. Anything that stands out, is unnatural or seems out of place is suspicious until proven otherwise :).

After a scary number of hours played (playing blind, no help) I'm at 89% overall completion with just some Korok Seeds to find.
I'm not really playing for 100%, but I'll keep going back to it while it's still fun and then get the DLC once I'm thirsty for more.
