I think in the attempt to only show what is "required" of the story, it loses the ability to show little side-stories that may never conclude, but still add flavour... though too much is certainly filler... zero is just as bad, i mean this isn't a movie.

That's the problem, they are entering the issues movies have, Lack of time.

They have given themselves a time limit and it shows. It's a shame, but still best thing on TV imo.

Game of Thrones has always had variable pace. The way they've whipped through the two sieges/battles this episode gives me hope that they're making space for more interesting story in the later episodes.

When was the dialogue that much better? I think the main difference between this and the first few seasons is scenes are shorter and we jump around more, that's all.
Those comments are lost on me too. The dialogue seems fine here too - Tyrion isn't quite what he was in the first few series, but E3 was a good return to form. The story is moving a bit too quickly though.

I thought it was a good episode that built things up nicely (as usual for this stage of a GoT series to be fair). Some interesting paths being forged but, theory or no theory, in true GoT fashion you can bet there'll be twists and turns no one expected.

Post it up. A few theories doing the rounds but some are waaaaay crazy.

I've been watching so much stuff on youtube so not sure if I can find the source video but essentially Bran wargs too much and eventually gets stuck in the body of the original first men to be turned into a white walker. Ergo The Night King IS Bran!

That's the one!

I'm just working on the assumption Bran's mind had finished unpacking the Three-Eyed-Raven install and it's now enveloping his personality.

Found it a bit strange that the actress who plays Ellaria Sand has said that's it as far as appearences go, she and Tyene are gone for good - like Olenna you just have to assume they die off-screen at some indeterminable point in time...

Also hoping next week Littlefinger gets it! He'll be out to get rid of Bran ASAP (knife clip is telling...) and we know Arya is back at Winterfell...

You hope he gets what exactly. ;)

Finding it really hard to enjoy this season. The story telling just seems really bad. I know the TV show did the whole dorne story awfully but they really have just wiped it clean. Like who's even in charge there now?? Why are all of cersei's plans suddenly working when her whole character development has always been that she's a bit of an idiot and always ends up shooting her self in the foot. The greyjoys and half the cast just teleporting to where ever they need to be etc. Would love to see a map of all the ship movements and how characters keep missing each other in certain places and then miraculously finding them in others. Brans development....., Varys suddenly being useless with zero intel etc it's all very sloppy.

I still thought it was a good episode but considering who met who etc I just didn't find the scenes/dialogue as impactful as some points in the earlier seasons. Part of the problem might have been Danaerys herself as I don't find Emilia Clarke to be a particularly great actress and Jon Snow isn't known for his intellectual speeches but more for inspiring. Tyrion was on point as usual.

What an episode, yes they held the budget back on the battles but it didn't need it, this was more character building and build they did. What an ending I can see this being the turning point for Jamie.

Plot twist: Syrio aka First Sword of Braavos shows up and challenges Jamie to a trial by combat.

Totally disagree. Dorne they've done away with. Whose in charge? It doesn't matter!
Cersei character is going exactly where it should. You think she hasn't learnt from her experience with the sparrows? Ask everyone in that sept if she's gotten a bit sneaky? She also has a rather clever adviser.

Euron is killing everything at sea, but please can we forget about distances? Same thing every week. Do they need to put time stamps in each scene like an episode of 24? Can't you just assume it's been 2/3 weeks since they were in kings landing? It'd kind of kill the surprise showing them travelling there.

Thought it was a great episode with some brilliant dialogue. Davos, Melisandre and varys, Olena, Euron, Cersei with the sand snakes, tyrion ... all in one episode and all great! The show has never leant heavily on the books for direct dialogue so it's an odd criticism.

Seems the show is a victim of its own success. Every series folks complain early on then declare it the best thing ever upon season end. We're only into episode three and imo it's been quality.

Ellaria looked fire being dragged through the streets of Kings Landing. Lucius Vorenus will be fuming, mind.

OMG all these years how did I not know that was Niobe.

I do agree with what people are saying.

Varys now knows nothing.
Euron coming out of no where and trashing their fleet. Then falls down with that huge wooden plank that crashed onto their flagship. As if that wouldn't of shattered both his legs.

No sense of travel, distance. Really does feel like their just teleporting all other the place. We saw this at the end of last season with Varys in Dorne one episode and then back with Danaerys the next.

That being said I don't really care about the above. Still very much enjoyed last episode. Cersei's scene in the cell was outstanding.

All I want to know is where is that location with the castle and the steps they were walking up looking over a cliff that amazing location I want to take photos

Or was it all just cgi cant tell these days that looked like a real place though.

Good episode be interesting if the unsullied can hold the castle from the Lannisters no doubt they are coming back to claim it

I don't see an issue with the jumps in time, there have always been jumps in time perhaps it's just more obvious now as there are bigger journeys involved. Some episodes pick up immediately after the previous whereas others assume a progression of time (even from a final season episode to a first season episode - for example Jon Snow being killed, we picked up where we left off whereas other times we've progressed a bit)

Some bits of story telling took a few episodes to cover whereas other events are over with quickly - for example battles aren't always seen, sometimes we have an epic battle other times we skip to the aftermath - this happened back when Rob Stark was king in the north.

The whole show is telling a story showing snippets of it at points in time so I'm fine with it. Also I guess I started off with the show slightly late and binge watched seasons 1-3 in one go so was used to having jumps in time as there was no significance of waiting a week between episodes or months between seasons - it was all just a series of scenes and the jumps were there, watching it that way, from the start.

Plot twist: Syrio aka First Sword of Braavos shows up and challenges Jamie to a trial by combat.

Would be great to see him show up again but I suspect we'll be left with that being a mystery/open question... was he the faceless man etc...

In other news - according to the BBC the next episode script had leaked online, hopefully the press will be responsible with spoilers and not give any away in headlines etc... sadly I've found that if you don't watch the latest episode immediately in the morning then you're at risk from spoilers from stupid trash newspapers on the tube/train before you get home.

These last 3 episodes have been fantastic. Everything is coalescing....all the main players going head to head...epic stuff!

This ep3 was overflowing with pant tingling excitement....i was half hoping a dragon would land in front of Jon or wide be ordered to attack him but it refusing...something like tbat.

The twist imo in this episode was the rather interesting words little finger spoke to Sansa I think... It was very odd and very meta...I maybe read to much into it will have to watch it again.
