Pageants, especially child pageants, are pretty grim things. Ever notice how pretty much none of them have/allow boys to enter? You have entire generations of women being brought up to believe that beauty is all that matters. Really? when I look around my town on a summers day and see the various shapes and sizes of a great many people (men and women) I would say that isn't the case at all.

If we all end up looking like a bag full of spanners then the population of the entire world is going to die out. There's nothing wrong with looking 'sexy', it's what makes the world go round.

Are they integral to the performance of the event? Nope, darts get thrown and cars get raced regardless of if there are pretty women standing and walking around.

Is it obvious why we have the likes of grid/walk-on/promo girls? Yes, to cater to the apparent inability for men to think with anything other than their ****. If this wasn't the case, you wouldn't only ever see them in male-focused activities.

I'd be interested if you could provide any justification towards actually having these things. What exactly are the positives of objectifying women to get men to spend money?

I have never been offended, or cared enough to go protest or start a petition or anything, but I agree that as a society we should be moving on from these things, I would hope my hypothetical future daughter wouldn't have to deal with this sort of mentality, but sadly it will take a view generations yet for all the knuckle-draggers and their views to go extinct.

I would say a lot of the nonsense started after gay marriage was written into law. This was the point where most rational people said "Yeah that's great, everything seems fair now, well done 21st century world, now we can all just crack on".

The only real reason I can see for this is so the hard left can feel like they are keeping the good fight going. Trump and the old right are not the people to solve this . What we need are all the rational grown up people on the left to stop pandering to all this nonsense and call it out. The liberal media I feel is partly responsible for these agendas and milking them for click bait profit. Any news organisation hyping this stuff and misreporting it needs to be boycotted. Instead of rushing to fight back from the centre ground in the comments sections on these articles the best thing to do is unfollow / unbookmark and go elsewhere.

We have equality of the laws of the land, the best thing to do if you are gay / transgender / migrant etc etc etc is to shut up about it and be successful. Success will put you into the mainstream and make the masses normalise your presence in society as an asset. The victimhood left just want to keep you dragged down at the bottom with them.

I haven't bothered reading the whole thread, because quite frankly, its all very predictable.

All I'm going to say is, I watched the darts the other day, and while it clearly didn't affect the actual match in any way, the oche part of the match was really rather boring and sterile without the girls.

Is this the type of world we want to live in? Totally joyless and clinical just so you don't offend anyone. Very, very sad. I feel for future generations if this is the trend we are heading towards.
 
It seems the western world is being driven towards becoming a sexless race by a small vocal minority.. interested to see where this all leads.

Depends on the context and the product.
For example, a naked woman has no place around a shiny new motorcycle in my world, as I just take one look and think she's an uninterested sales tactic that'll only get in the way.

Of course it possible to be gratuitous and out of your customers with going down the 'sex sells' avenue.... You may have missed it but this thread wasn't about naked women draped over things but was instead about relatively conservatively dressed attractive ladies accompanying darts players in stage.. I never said people were 'slaves' to their impulses to the pount that they would buy something solely or even mainly because it was promoted or advertised using an attractive member of whatever sex they were attracted to.... But the evidence is clear people are affected by things like the attractiveness and sex of a person selling something to them...

You suggested you were immune to such an effects..... I say that the evidence shows that you are either deluded or deceitful on this point.... Again I'm not suggesting that you are some autonomous slave to your biological impulses... Just that they do have some effect on you even if you are not always totally conscious at the time of these effects

If you want to look at attractive women there are plenty of places on the net, for instance, to do that, and you'll be able to find some that are right up your street, rather than a random shot at being to someone's fancy. It's a shame if you have to watch darts to inspire you to a w***.
