Political Correctness Gone Mad Again

NP, most of them will be gone before they reach 55 :p

This is incorrect, unfortunately modern medicine makes them hang on for years and years providing a massive drain on the health care systems and the govt spending system in all regions.
Diabetes and obesity are much more of an issue to society than anorexia.

Nope, because in the same way you just argued for freedom of speech, they are free to use whatever advertising method they want (within the law of course) and if that influences your decision over the actual technical specifications of the monitor, that's your issue.

Since the attractive women seem to be perfectly happy to be paid to be scantily clad over a car/gpu/male orientated product then I'm perfectly happy to see them :)

I have no desire or intent tonstop them, but I find it slightly irritating that, just because I am male, advertisers seem to think an attractive woman is going to make me lose all sense.

I am not at all repulsed by biology, I’m just not stupid enough to think that something has more value just because an attractive woman is draped over it. YMMV

Advertisers don't appear to agree that humans are not just a little more malleable to persuasion then you suggest....

I feel sorry for those men that feel an attractive women advertising a product means it is more valuable. They seem awfully gullible.

I feels sorry for people that think that they are totally immune to any such effects (you may of course not be attracted to women and hence not affected by this particular thing)

Heterosexual men who beleive that they are totally immune from the effects of seeing an attractive woman are either deceitful or deluded..... not that the effect of seeing a fully clothed but none the less attractive woman these days has that much power given the cornucopia of images of attractive women in far more explicit attire available.... Which makes it all the more strange that the broadcasters would get all worked up about the women being paid to walk out with the darts players.

Perhaps you could have a discussion with explicit4u who seems to disagree with you on the potential effects on humans (women mainly in his case) when they look upon a clothed attractive woman...

So you mention the effects of promoting gambling companies but not the effects those women could be having on other women or society in general. Hardly a fair fight.

If you want to read some more scientific evidence there is a wealth of evidence on the association of beauty and selling stuff... As well as the well established link between beauty correlating positively to average earnings

Here is an example for house sales in the US from that bastion of MRA journalism Jezebel....

(/sarcasm)

'It turns out having a male agent is bad for the selling price of a house. Both male listing agents (those acting on behalf of the seller) and male selling agents (those acting on behalf of the buyer) are associated with lower house prices than their female counterparts

And, what's more, homes with good-looking agents sold for higher prices:

Being attractive, for both listing and selling agents, is associated with higher final sale price for a house'

I like a perv as much as the next man but seeing a scantily clad woman draped around a product instantly make me suspicious and makes me wonder what shortcomings they're trying to distract me away from. :D

Cynicism level 12 since hitting 30...

So your ok with 'pressure groups' putting pressure on businesses to try to force them to restrict their entirely legal activities even if this is against the wishes of the majority of the customers of the business ?

What's somewhat ironic about it all is that the darts ladies wore sash's advertising gambling companies onto the stage as part of their job's .....

What's objectively more damaging to society or even women...... Attractive women being paid to accompany darts players on stage fully clothed or the knock on effects gambling has on society and famlies....

Now of course gambling and advertisement of companies that offer gambling is legal but its not hard to see that the activists behind all this hardly have their priorities at all straight.

Do I particularly care if attractive women no longer get employed as props for sport? Not that much.....

But the bigger picture behind it all is a Marxist ideology that (incorrectly) states that male objectivication of women (I. E the tendency for men to be able to look at a women and be attracted to her based on her looks alone) is form of oppression under a societally constructed patriarchy rather then the result of human biology most importantly driven by sexual selection (which is the reality) .

This ideology therefore seeks to pathologise men for what most inherently are not necessarily for any of the conscious decisions they make.

Gattaca is the next stop. whats is really depressing is everything is labelled dos and donts to such a extent that you are close to not saying anything which even if true.. is seen as wrong.

I think those who went into cryo sleep got it right.

Recently I was watching an event on TV which had promo girls and I thought to myself, what is the point of them being there?

So whilst I won't miss them in the slightest, has anyone thought about the employment opportunities for these now unemployed hotties? Probably not.

Not sure if it has been mentioned in the thread so far, but if we are now getting rid of the walk-on girls and grid girls, can Abercrombie and Fitch please get rid of the semi naked bloke who stands at the front of their shops?

If we are wanting true equality, then surely this has to happen? Or are we going down the lines of the double standards in a similar way that some of the feminazis are with strippers......

Sits back and grabs popcorn........

. . .

You haven't actually read the thread have you?

The consensus amongst posters here is that all these "Hotties" will end up selling the Big Issue and sleeping in doorways . . . presumably on the basis that they are incapable of finding any other employment - how very depressing, I blame the education system :(

One of the grid girls getting the boot said that gig was 60% of her income.

Whats most annoying is the feminists didn't even speak to them about it. They just (as always) arrogantly assumed they were right. They could have changed the role in to something else other than just standing there with a sign. But nope, sack them all.

1000s get laid off and pension funds decimated from the collapse of a government contractor, few people give a ****.

A few possibly upto 50!! "good looking" women worldwide become surplus to requirements in a changed perception of sport promotion and the knuckle draggers are up in arms.

Maybe they can refocus their careers in other ways? I mean people don't lose jobs and find new ones everyday?

Ah Cultural-Marxism at it's finest, they should get other careers and do as they are told. I can't wait for strippers to be outlawed, then we'll have Police walking around with tape measures on skirts, then women wearing head dresses to cover their faces will be the norm.

You do know there's no line in the sand for this type of behavior? Sexuality will simply be outlawed

You actually believe that or just for the sake of a forum?

I'd say you are gonna be up for a hell of a shock in the next 50 years.
You better get protesting to protect the amply chested, pillars of your working class heritage.

My question is this - why is it wrong to objectify women, or men come to that? If a man or women is attractive and they are quite happy to be admired then what does it matter, who are they harming? I have listened to a number of these ladies on the radio this week who suddenly find they are out of work, a number have young children and have bills to pay.

One of the ladies who did the darts gigs said - she looks nice, wears nice clothes and escorts the darts players to the Oche. She has never been sexually harassed or compromised in the ten years she has been doing the job - again where's the harm?

A business man (who didn't want to be identified) was claiming that we are going to end up with a situation where women are seen as toxic, no one will want to employ them for the constant fear of being sued or their business reputations being trashed. Where does all this end?
