**** The Official Google Pixel 2/Pixel 2 XL Thread ****

Interesting. I used a iPhone X for a day last week to Trueplay my Sonos speakers and it reminded me of how poor the Pixel 2 screen is with its definate blue tint. The black crush in the evening/dark has always annoyed me.
Yes I totaly agree that the screen isn't as good as the iphone X's but it's not too bad. Maybe I'm lucky with the one I have.

Pretty much perfect Bluetooth for me.

It's a real issue for me when connected to my car. It connects to the BT dongle. Mostly without any issues.... Then for whatever reason, it'll just disconnect. And then reconnect a minute or two later.

In addition to the above. I'm no longer able to make and receive calls via the BT connection either....

Note this only appears to be an issue when connected to my in car bt device.

I'm having a few issues with my sennheiser momentum BT headphones, if i put the phone in my back pocket of my jeans the connection is bad, breaks up quite a bit, have to have it in my front pocket which is a pain!

My 2XL has bluetooth issues only in my GF's car (2013 Seat Ibiza). It connects fine and works ok, but the issue is that (and it only happens sometimes) every few mins it seems to lower and then raise the volume a bit, like its ducking when you get the satnav voice for example.

I can't figure it out, it only happens in her car, I've tried it in her dads car which is another Seat Ibiza (15 plate) and its fine. It never happens with my bluetooth speaker.

Its obviously the car and not the phone, but I can't figure it out.

If anyone knows whats happening I'd love to know!

Still having bluetooth issues guys.....geez

That was the one thing I hated about my Pixel, since changing over to the OP5T I've never had an issue since (and both my BMW and Audi work flawlessly!!) Now THATS a first

That's interesting because I have the Momentum BT earphones, and although I keep my phone in my side pockets, they're by far the best BT earphones I've used for holding a signal and no dropouts.

I have both the Note 8 & the pixel 2 XL.

The Note is better for music no doubt. The pixel just seem to lack some sparkle compared to the Note.

If your buying the Pixel 2 XL for it's audio quality, you'll be disappointed.

Complete rubbish - the sound through headphones is perfectly adequate, and far louder than I need.

If you're an audiophile, why are you even buying a phone for music? Plus, if you genuinely don't like the sound quality from the Pixel, then you can buy a different headphone adapter.

I did. I have a HI Res Dongle & it's still not as good as the Note 8.

I also have a pair of B&O E8's & the Note 8 still sounds better.

The pixel 2 xl isn't rubbish, it's just not as good.

Sorry maybe audiophile was an overstatement, however I'm someone who can tell the difference in quality between the DAC's in mobile phones when it comes to music.

I tend to listen to a lot of music on my phone through headphones which is why I asked.

Using an S8+ at the moment which the DAC is fairly good so just wanted to know if the Pixel 2 is as good but it doesn't seem to be.

From what I've heard the DAC in the Pixel 2 is fine but not up there with the best. You'd want the V30 for that.
AFAIK the DAC is in the dongle.

And if your not using the one in the box then that could alter the sound. Vice versa.

Also DAC might be good but if the amp is weak then that's another problem.

I use my DacMagix XS. Works great with the XL but clearly a little more bulky than the included dongle. I'm used the sound from the DM, so can hear the difference when switching between the two, but tbh there isn't much in it and I can't say whether one is better than the other. Source is the main difference for me, Tidal is clearly better than Google Music for example.
