Was going to say, wife called on my behalf (Portuguese support center) and we got the pickup arranged and delivery labels on the spot.
 
So who's picking up Tennis Aces on Friday? I enjoyed the test but got destroyed most of the time. It'll be interesting to see how much content there is in story mode. For now, I think I will give this one a miss. With Donkey Kong and Hollow Knight keeping me occupied in single player and MK8D and Splatoon 2 for multiplayer I think I am covered for some time yet. Maybe down the road.
 
I found it OK playing against people with 3 bars or more. Anything less there was too much freezing and teleporting. I wonder if it'll give you the option to search for match-ups locally and globally. I only played 30 or so matches.

Locally is still across all of Europe in Mario kart so I'm not sure that will help much.

Is it not something that can be improved upon as a result if the network test/demo recently? Or is it down to its online design that it will just never be that great?
 
I never had any issues with their other online games. Maybe the beta was just laggy due to high demand?

And it wasn't that bad for me. Probably 2 or 3 poor connections in the 30 or so matches I played.

You know how old games tied framerate/local tickrate into the network tick rate? Yeah, Aces does that.

This means that any little hickup in the network makes the game stutter/lag inputs, just like Smash Bros on the Wii U.

This cannot be fixed as it's part of the core engine, and is often a symptom when online is added later in the development of a game instead of the game being designed from the start with online play in mind.

Splatoon and Mario Kart are examples of online done right, Aces and Smash Bros are examples of it done poorly.

Unfortunately I think the new Smash will act like the WiiU version as it's a sort of remaster/expansion building on the older game rather than being built from the ground up.
 
Thought I’d be more inclined to Fortnite than Paladins but Paladins has been my go to game at the minute! It’s really good, surprising as I always assumed it was just an Overwatch rip off but it has a bit more depth which I like.

I'm a bit put off buying it because it will be free in a month or two. I am a huge fan of Overwatch so it should be right up my street.

Thanks for the info, I shall hold off until reviews regardless and I imagine the major publications will need to wait to after launch to truly comment on the online etc

See it that Paladins isn't free on Switch right off the bat

*Mario Aces embargo lifts today so I imagine any reviews we get will be the "in progress" types

Yeah I couldn’t wait lol, wanted something like Overwatch for on the go. Tbh £25 ain’t a bad price considering you get all the characters and a few other bits unlocked up front and won’t have to grind for them.
