When the reviewers test the cards they need to check the clockspeeds with and without RT/DLSS as using the new tech may generate more heat.
When a Titan V does professional work using DP and Tensor cores the max clockspeed is a lot lower than for SP gaming.

So clocked 10% faster but only scores 6% higher. So basically if true proves the 2080 isn't as fast as a 1080ti then as expected.

it has fewer cores than the 1080ti.
as for proving the 2080 is not as fast (as expected by some when not using its new cores).... I dunno... that depends what you expected I suppose. I have been expecting the 2080 to be a bit of a disappointment (when not using tensor cores) since the leaks which were some time ago... .so with this in mind.... i am actually feeling more positive about the 2080 i think
if the 2080 is on a par with the 1080ti - when not using tensor cores - then that is kind of what i expected, anything at all is a bonus.. all being well the card will clock quite well given it is on 12nm instead of 16?.
hopefully however this is a card which will get better as things go on. it is "only" £85 more expensive than the cheapest 1080ti however so is possibly still the sensible purchase rather than buying a new 1080ti imo.
the 1080ti is a tempting purchase for me still... but only if 2nd hand and significantly less than new.
Behemoth grain of salt taken, but this matches up with the earlier "leaks" pointing to 2080 being around 7% faster than 1080 ti in rasterization. So again, you're essentially paying the same dollar/performance you did 2 years ago, but with a few new features that won't be supported widely for quite a while (and at the cost of extra power usage).
I have a preorder in, but my spidey-sense is saying wait for 7nm which will likely provide the horsepower needed for raytracing.
Actually these results put them more in line with Titan XP performance which means you are getting a significant price reduction (Titan XP is $1200.00 USD) with the 2080 if the benchmarks are accurate.

Very disappointing cards if the 2070 doesn't even match the 1080Ti like previous gens. Guess Nv will keep yapping on about Ray Tracing instead.
Still hard to say. An OC 1080Ti will do 11-11.5k graphics score on timespy.
Am I not right in thinking the 2070 should be matching the 1080Ti, let alone the 2080. Certainly that is how previous gens have gone.
980Ti and 1070 were eye for an eye.

I wouldn't put much confidence in the snippet shown. System Info in Futuremark is notoriously bad at reporting clocks, but at 1800+MHz, the Ti shown is either incorrect or clocked extremely conservatively.
That's true: it's a price reduction for those people who were willing to pay $450 for a 4% performance increase.
The fact is this is the first time it seems we are seeing virtually no traditional/rasterization increase per price in the history of graphics cards. NVidia can try to spin it all they want and say they are "changing the paradigm", but in the past, new features didn't come at a significant cost like this.

it is how previous generation have gone but this time i think to get the best performance it is going to need the tensor cores to be supported etc. It isnt ideal but i highly doubt the 2070 will be on a par with the 1080ti unless the game has 20xx specific support built in and allows you to use DLSS.
hopefully we will know more in 2-3 weeks. i had hoped for some "proper" leaked benchmarks across games with more specific details of settings etc this weekend just gone but that hasn’t happened.
I'm at the point of worrying that this launch has been so poor that it might actually sour people on the idea of ray tracing all together... I can totally see people coming away from this saying "oh ray tracing, that thing that cost a lot and tanks performance"
