New Star Trek series - 2017

I have to mostly agree with Mr steampunk. But...

Wesley was cool bro. He did evolve into something. It would be cool to see him end up as a commander or captain.
He was good for other characters to play off and give more to their personality.
Wesley was the ultimate plot device

I think they could have done so much more with the her. Look at what happened to Chloe Armstrong or Eli Wallace on the two short series of Stargate Universe.

I liked Eli, Chloe tho, meh, dont think they knew what to do with her so she just kinda floated around like a turd in a pool...

I think she had an arc coming we never really saw. She started as a bit of a silly college girl, and then she ends up with all that alien knowledge in her head that makes her really quite important to the crew, although potentially dangerous and scary, all while stranded on an ancient, falling apart space ship where she has to grow up fast.

Didn't he get killed in a gruesome way? Despite looking like he might have become a main cast mber at one point.

Nope. Still alive and well during ST: Voyager. And the film First Contact (he's part of the Enterprise team repairing Cochrane's warp ship after the Borg attack).

Mirroring the above here, this looks like a vast improvement on Season 1 so far for me.

There are issues to resolve, I can accept the cosmetic changes to the Enterprise for example as they are not that big and if you take TOS out of the equation it does fit pretty well with the rest of the TV Shows & movies. TOS itself does not fit in my opinion so I don't see this as an issue.

The Klingons, it looks like they are going to backtrack & we shall be seeing ships similar in design to how they should look but with some updates I expect & the Klingons will start to look more Klingon.

The Spore Drive, this needs writing out by the end of S2 in my opinion. I fully expect them to get rid of it but if this show does run for more than a few years I'd like it buried please.

Overall however, really enjoyed the last 2 episodes!

Absolutely loving this season so far. The guy who plays pike is perfect. So much mystery, adventure into the unknown - brilliant. A few niggles, but it finally feels like trek.

Random question before I start watching series 1 - Are the episodes self contained stories, similar to TOS, TNG and Voyager, or does it have an overarching plot that each episode follows closely?
