What have you done to your car today?

Made new power steering transfer lines and fitted them to the Volvo
Re-fitted downpipe
Now for the bleeding process. Blahhhh...

New DA polisher has arrived, rather nervous to use it

Don't be, their very nature in being dual action is partly to make it near impossible to burn through the paint. You would have to be a complete idiot and lean with all your weight on it in one spot for a fairly long time to do any damage.

I've cut back the paint on the BMW three times and on each occasion it took three passes over the whole car with a heavy cutting compound and some light pressure, and two passes over the whole car with a light compound. I'm not going to do it again in case there isn't much paint depth left.

With your car you will only be using at most a light correction compound followed by a finishing polish I imagine. So there is nothing to worry about at all. :)

One quick tip though, always rest it on the bodywork before turning it on, and don't take it off of the bodywork until it has stopped spinning... Once you do that once you don't do it again. :D

I did it! On the boot/trunk only so far as I was testing.

Very happy with the results, will do the rest of the car at the weekend.

And this is what happens when you have a slightly broader chap in the passenger seat than usual :o

Guess I'll be taking it to my guy in Southampton to work his magic like he did on the driver's bolster way back when I got the car.

Maybe needs a new topic, but has anyone lost a month's car tax this year?

Mine was renewed late Jan last year but now expires at the end of December. I know they stiff you when you change owner now, but not on renewal :/

Of course it does because you can't tax it from late January, it starts from the 1st of the month you buy it for regardless of when you buy it.

Hmm then it should expire on the 1st of Jan, not 31st Dec. If I renew in December now I'll lose that month next year. Seems like the same scam the TV licencing do.

If it was renewed in late January 2019 though, that would imply the renewal was for 1st Feb 2019 to 31st Jan 2020, so it shouldn't be expiring on 31st December 2019? (Unless Nasher taxed it late somehow)

What you've said would surely only be correct for a new tax purchase?

New purchase in January, renewal now is how I read it.

Yea renewed at the end of last Jan. If I paid in Jan then it should last until the end of Jan right, since you pay for the current month also? O_o

Maybe I'll use the SORN trick to let it tick over and then re-tax it. Like when changing owner.

Still getting boost issues on the 1.8t bam engine.

When I turn the car on from cold, let it idle for a few minutes, goes into a limp mode, no warning lights, limited to 5psi boost.

Back off and on again, back to normal.

Happened a week after remap, going back in over the weekend. I've tried torque app, no codes. Was overboosting issues too, but n75 valve replacement sorted that out, but doesn't feel as punchy as it use to be.

It's had recent new plugs put in, ran on tesco super, and always warmed up/cooled down. Can't see any leaks???

Out of ideas, hopefully get it on vagcom, if I can find someone that is.
