For that reason alone is why i do not use smart switch and always set up each phone as a new one bar for the following. Contacts/messages/emails. other than that its all new, i thenm also re download apps i regularly use thus avoids downloading apps i have tried but never bothered to uninstall.

I also came from a note 9. the battery isn't as good granted but then it takes a while to get the battery and the management sorted. and remember the note series had a few battery optimisations baked into some of the updates. we will be getting some for the s20 range im sure.

EDIT also remember how fast the s20 range now charges back up. a lot faster than previous versions.

Ah ok, ill have to do a reset / fresh install again then in the next few days. Hopefully that does the trick as i cant carry on with this woeful battery life, even though the fast charging is great.

I have amazing battery life, I still had 60% left last night. Admittedly I used it less yesterday but I'm finding a great battery life, much better than my S9 plus. I'm on 78% now. I haven't made any calls today but have send loads of texts and used social media somewhat.

As mentioned, you're better off with a clean build and installing from there.

Used the 50% code in the Samsung members app to get the desktop fast charger, comes with a 25W adaptor and USB C to USB C cable which is handy.

No issues with the phone so far, battery life on par with my OnePlus 6T. Camera is great.

My battery life is also doing good enough getting around 4/5 hours screen on time. I have made some adjustments though I run 120hz dark theme on everything I can and also have a dark wallpaper, I dont use Always-on screen and I turned on the adaptive battery and adaptive brightness. I have disabled from running in the background mostly games once I quit them they quit. I use bixby routines for night time so at 12am to 6am my phone is in aeroplane mode and power mode is reduced overnight.

I think that is everything I have done so far

Beep just means the calls connected. The earbuds are okay but even the biggest tips are too small for me and don't seal well.

Thanks, I did wonder if that's what it was. The biggest tips are smaller than the tips for my SE425's so no wonder I can't get any decent sound out of them. Will have to see if there are others that fit unless anyone knows of any?

edit

Basically Exynos vs snapdragon s20 ultra. And how much more poorer the Exynos is.

This is why I will never buy a Exynos Samsung handset.

What's with the video drop and runs? Is it too much to ask for a couple of sentences to say what the conclusions are so that people know what it's all about without having to watch the whole thing?

One would call that a spoiler though. I’d rather watch then be told in a sentence what the whole video was about.

each to their own though

if you must know, i will add

Weren't we told the troubles of the Exynos were over? No wonder some reviews have mentioned the phone gets hot. I want my next phone to be a SD even more now.

That's not how generating money on YouTube works.

Basically unless I get an amazing deal or can get a Snapdragon handset, I'm really not into paying top dollar to Samsung anymore.

Having had the pleasure of dealing with their "support" and those stores that are nothing but a glorified and condescending sale points over last 2 weeks, I've been pretty quickly turned off the brand.

I've had so many problems with Samsung since I bought a phone and a watch from them on Black Friday. These problems culminated in a refusal to either replace or refund my galaxy watch after two failed repair attempts, which is in contravention of consumer laws. Now I can't do anything about it because all their call centers have long queues to get through (admittedly coronavirus isn't their fault) and their phone systems cut you off after 30 minutes of waiting. I'm now pretty much decided that I'll never buy a Samsung product of any description again, specifically because their customer service is absolutely terrible. Possibly even worse than Scottish Power's and that's a high (or low) accolade.

I must say i have not noticed my samy 512gb s20 ultra getting hot and i hammer mine a fair bit atm. If those reviewers are constantly hammering there phones with bench tests and comparison tests no wonder. they are just like pcs, if you was to do the same with a pc it would be same but alsas pcs have better cooling lol.

TBH reviewers are not typical users and they do not use there phones like a typical/average person would anyhow.

Fair point but it's also one of the first things I noticed with my wife's S20, it running warmer than I expected at certain times.

one reason why i went for an Apple this time around, walk in and walk out with issue fixed there and then (in most cases)

none of this oh it will take 14 days for it to be repaired

Apple largely hire enthusiasts in my experience. Enthusiasts want you to like what they want and try hard to make the customer happy. Samsung appear to have zero interest in hiring a team of proper support people and I seem to get through to someone from a different low wage far-eastern country every time I contact the company.

If the OnePlus 8 doesn't offer what I want, I will likely go back to Apple again, though it means waiting until September (or later, depending on the coronavirus). I like my Note 10+, but Samsung have seen the last of me as a customer.

Sorry but apple are the worst company in the world for repairs. they will happily charge you £500 for a replacement back glass panel when in fact you can get it done for way less than that. not to mention they are the ones responsible for trying to kill the "right to repair"

no one mentioned out of warranty repairs mate but there is more chance of Apple taking a look and repairing as a good will if handset is out of warranty than Samsung would, they'd tell you to do one on the spot lol
