Rule Britannia or not?

I was meaning is Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory the only songs that aren't going to be sung, or is it like this for all the songs?
Which other songs do they always play which have lyrics?

Seriously, did you give the faintest **** before the dog whistles were blown?

The BBC are really becoming a movement on their own. We must defund these psychotic ideologists for the well being of the entire Country. We are under attack and we cannot stand for this ideological infection.

I’m leaving now because this is beyond making me angry..

Lol, you're funny, and it seems very easily angered by stupid things.

. . .
I'd imagine the BBC and the conductors etc have been talking about how to go ahead with LNOTP since March, especially as it's becoming more and more obvious that one of the big spreaders of Covid is an enclosed space, and that the louder people talk and sing the more likely they are to spread it, which will be a huge concern when doing something that requires a lot of people singing loudly, and a lot of people blowing hard into instruments.
. . .
Pretty much sums it up.

However . . . it is good to see that people here are developing an interest in Classical music and the BBC Radio 3 Proms :)
This link will take you to the BBC Radio 3 Proms HomePage - https://www.bbc.co.uk/proms - sadly, that is what was planned :(

Bad day at the office, McTriggered?

Most of the songs are sung by a handful of professional singers.

Rule Britannia and Land of Hope and Glory are always sung with the audience taking part during the last night performances, it's very much the tradition of the proms that on the last night the crowd go from being generally a quiet and passive audience to becoming part of the performance for those songs.

Not having them take part would be a little like doing "something in the air tonight" without the drums in terms of what is expected of that specific performance (IIRC tickets for the last night tend to go much faster than any of the other performances)..

IIRC for most of the rest of the Proms they've either cut back to showing previous performances, or having to chose things that can be performed well with far fewer people involved (IIRC they did at least one performance where they had two singers alone on the stage with the music piped in).

Just sick of the oppression. Daily without fail. I’m not standing for it. Sorry. They are a disgrace of a broadcaster.

I am quite funny yes. It does **** me off when I come here and read things like this and people defend the BBC. If we had a government with a strong right sided leader this would be torn down instantly. As would be all this pc/ woke garbage we have to be oppressed with.

I must admit I'm not normally much of a classical music fan, but I do drop in and out of the Proms every year, one of my favourites was the "comedy" proms about 10 years ago which was different:)

Somewhere in here is a reasonable point of view... but you go OTT and smother it with derp.

I posed a question asking if other songs would be sung by singers BEFORE jumping on the bandwagon, and you come back with a swearing post.

Your toxic posts are starting to get annoying.

Christ, you're weak!

Rather than getting angry and wound up, I just cancelled my TV licence about 3 years ago and no longer watch live broadcast TV or iPlayer. Voting with your wallet is the way to show your disapproval.

Like I said before, they have become a parody of themselves and the news is more like a right-on student rag now. :(

It's about time someone said it. Isn't it racist making someone feel ashamed of the colour of their skin because of what their forefathers did?

I was thinking it's gone from to rubbing a dog's nose in its own mess to discourage bad behaviour (calling out/shaming) to constantly rubbing all dogs' noses in old mess made by others. Some will probably end up pretty annoyed and are likely to bite. :(

"Toxic"? Offended by some asterisks now...

I'll ask again, more gently.

Did you care in the slightest before the dog whistles were blown?

I get that. Hypocrisy annoys me more than anything else I think. Personally I don't care who you are, or what you are - be nice to me and I respond in the same. Offend me then I seek an explanation but if I'm not satisfied expect a similar retort.

After staying silent on A-levels, when Johnson came back to work and prioritised the BBC singing scandal he said "they're trying to restrain me from saying this."

Who's they?

(Given that more Conservative MPs have now spoken out about this than about A-levels, often in the identical wording of a party-wide agreed strategy - so it's clearly nobody in his party)
