will be interesting to see what happens with the ryzen and navi launches and if its going to be just as dire with lack of stock and demand.

In Europe, the bots were apparently using an API, not the web ordering system.

The product code got leaked, so they went straight past the website and dropped their orders into the system with no delays.

That at least is easy to fix for the next time around.

Last year when the 2080s got released I prodded a little around the Nvidia website. There is a back end ( digital river ) which provides the service. I automated something to tell me when stock arrived and send me an email. I then used this to alert me and manually purchase one at the time when it came back in stock.

Fast forwards to now, I’ve been keeping an eye on it since I wanted a 3080, querying the API to see when they changed the inventory. The stock of the 3080s didn’t appear till around 4pm, but around 30 minutes before you could order the stock appeared in the inventory on the back end.

With a little bit of knowledge it wouldn’t have taken much to bypass the Nvidia front end website and to buy them directly.

Oddly I didn’t share this knowledge, yet clearly other people have gone through the same process and built and sold bots and used this to order countless cards which is very sad...

I think shortages is part of their strategy, its either that or they incompetent.

You don't see this on other high demand electronics such as the latest iPhone or android phone, nor on consoles. Their price stays fixed during release and stays fixed. They dont **** about with the prices of those every few minutes

price spy makes very interesting reading on pc components, for some reason pc retailers treat the pricing like a stock market.
 
Hey guys, new here. Ordered the Asus TUF. I'm wondering if it's known how many pre orders they received for this card. Obviously not expecting it any time soo , would be cool to know the numbers though.

I doubt this is the case, since Nvidia could have easily just cancelled the orders generated via the API system, and re-release them back for availability in the website. This would have been a great PR move, since they know scalpers will relist the cards for much more than £650.
