Rocket lake leaks

@Simon Belmont did you buy an 8-Pack binned CL 8700K when they were launched?

I remember you being the most impatient person, constantly asking for updates like it was Christmas and you couldn't wait. :D Oh to have that level of enthusiasm again, especially when you consider how nothing has changed really in the last 4 years since the 8700K was launched.

Why do you think the 11700K is a good upgrade from whatever you are running now? Is it just the Gen 4 .0 PCI-E? Or is it that you are just bored and want something new to play with?
Obviously for gaming it will likely offer little to nothing unless you are going for that super sweet 360Hz 1080p, as I'd imagine anyone with an RT 3070 or above will be looking at 1440P (UW) or above.

My son has that cpu now. He’s happy with it

Ah just let them be. You will never be able to switch everyone, some people will always fanboy to one brand or another. Plus Intel needs all the sales it can get, we don't want Intel going bankrupt and leaving no competition in the market
Never say never, but I think Intel are very unlikely to go bankrupt.
Never mind the technology and no longer being a manufacturing behemoth (almost totally stemming from refusing to get involved with low(er) margin stuff for phones by refusing to consider ARM and deliberately crippling Atom for decades), the saying of "Nobody ever got fired for buying X" very much applies to Intel.

Records profits the last few years. It's almost like for every % of performance Spectre and the like took away, their server volume grew by the exact %.

So you have no system at all now? Or you running something just to get you by until the RKL come out?

I'd take a long hard look at the offers on the 10850K or the 10700K for that matter, as they are offering some serious price to performance and a great feature set, unless like i said all you want is the PCI-E 4.0 then I guess you have no choice at all since you've already bought the Z590 board

Does it matter if it's "Hot Garbage?" Let people make up there own minds.
Does it matter? Kinda yes, kinda no.

Does it ultimately matter to me what you spend your money on? No, it's your money. Does the subject of a discussion matter to me? Yes, because that's why I'm here. And from a purely conversational perspective, I cannot fathom why you would actively purchase hot garbage.

Because it is.

It's not a matter of "making up your own mind" in this specific instance, it is quantifiably and empirically evidenced that Rocket Lake is inferior to both Comet Lake and Zen 3. There is literally nothing subjective to "make your own mind up" over, it's hot garbage.

So yeah, it doesn't matter to me what you spend your money on. But from a conversational perspective, please genuinely answer this genuine question.

Seriously, what in the blue hell are you thinking?

I honestly want to know what your logic and thought process is to arrive at "yep, Rocket Lake is the one for me!" when there's the 10850K with 2 more cores, lower memory latency, lower (albeit slightly) energy draw and thermals and higher all-core boost clocks for the same or less money.

Saves on the heating bills, dual use right? I am messing but only trying to lighten mood as some here taking things pretty serious.

At end day maybe just prefer it and that enough for some. I mean you have to consider things like USB issues, dodgy chips from AMD etc and reading about issues as well as being able to actually get ahold of particular chip if you want X number cores or anything really. So maybe PCIE 4.0 and going Intel latest is the best compromise for someone. Like what they know, know what they like as the saying goes.

So prepared to pay £600 notes for 8 cores, yet 5800X is freely available and half the price, is superior in every way and sits on a superior platform despite the odd number of users having USB issues. Same applies to 8 core Comet Lakes, too.

Which, frankly, I find to be utterly repugnant and ignorant in the age of ubiquitous internet and plentiful information at your fingertips. It just makes fanboyism even more retarded when any claim can be refuted in a matter of seconds with a simple Google search.

But still, it's not my money. But after buying a Pentium 4 over a K6 because I was too ignorant and lazy to see if my positive Pentium III experience carried over to the new generation, and buying a 6800 Ultra "because Nvidia", I personally won't ever part with my money without reading myself into a coma first.

@LePhuronn that all fine for you but tbh it is the same reason I brought my WH-1000xm4 headphones over any other because I had the xm2's and they worked and I liked them but needed a new set. I know what they like, I like what I know and for headphones that is the case. End of day sometimes you buy with a particular model/brand because for you that is a preference. Now had I looked into more detail I probably would have brought something else as it doesn't support aptX this time around which I hadn't realised till I had them in hand. Bit of an annoyance, especially as it appears Spotify finally upgrading and as good as their own DSEE processor is it would be nice to have.

Someone knowing their CPU is an older version of what the new one is but offer PCIE support might be enough for someone to upgrade and not want to look at other options. Tbh I have found your responses to why someone chooses to do what they want to be rude so far and basically looking down on someone even if you keep saying "not my money".

I bought the 9900k and stupidly upgraded to the 10900k. I did get a great price for my 9900k as I sold the full system, but I wish I had just kept it to be honest. I am new to pc gaming and didn’t realise at the time that the CPU makes little to no difference at 4K and bought into the “it must be better”. But the fact is it wasn’t. Now I’m waiting until something substantial changes. I do like Intel due to just being able to overclock easily, and I would be a little frightened to change to AMD, as I’ve heard things about memory problems etc. The new 11900k doesn’t look great at all, so hopefully I can sit and watch for a year or two and see what’s what.

In fairness to AMD, my system has been plug and play and there hasn't been a reason to try and upgrade it. It isn't worth the minor performance uplift in terms of gaming. With that the memory problems haven't been there since early 2000 series tbh. I don't think you need to upgrade mind either. You've got at least another generation till anything and even then at 4k will be minimal at best. GPU would net you significant differences to CPU. If the rumoured 40% uplift is there in the next generation of AMD CPU's then it may bring that into question but I would still expect another jump in generation after and that likely the upgrade path I will look at for instance and I think if you are on 3000 series AMD or as far back as 9000 series Intel you'd still be best waiting for CPU upgrades.

I had the 9900k paired with the 2080ti, and knew it was going to be hard to get a 3090 at launch, so I sold that full system and bought a completely new one in order to shorten the wait for the 3090, due to system builds getting a bit of a head start. Problem was my GPU came in very fast and I was waiting for my case to come in stock for two months .

I am perfectly happy with what I’ve got for now. I can’t help but notice AMD doing such good things and will definitely research more next time I upgrade. I’m going to try and hold off until the 4000 series cones out, then just upgrade my full system again.

"hot garbage" makes no sense.

But not in gaming.
Oh I see now. You're a hot garbage fan boy :)

Nice, I've used ASUS boards for years, always been stable and reliable for me.

Here's mine, awaiting it's 11900k :P
