They never really had a good window in that respect this year - the cold only came in blips no long hard freeze.

I think people are being a bit naive if they don't think Putin planned somewhat for this and won't try and settle the score in some way - I do expect he thought the Ukrainians would fold when threatened by the might of the Russian army and didn't expect so many countries to get together so quickly, and push back so hard, on this.

We would do well to be wary and prepared.

It's done. No one cares anymore.

All the people that shouted about covid 24/7 have suddenly forgot about it. The media has directed them to something else.

It truly is amazing to see how quickly people change.
 
It isn't really surprising - these kind of diseases are generally northern hemisphere season lead and generally decline into a lull around this time of year unless a new variant or some other factor comes along which drives an outbreak. Plus Omicron changing from reproducing faster in the throat and nose vs lungs seems to make a significant difference to fatality/severity as you don't get the same extent of inflammation around the lungs when the immune system kicks up a gear.

Saying it is over would be exceedingly short sighted and premature though.

The FSB stated nuclear missiles cannot be pre-emptively launched. The statement publicises a weakness for attack so Putin can justify legitimate retaliatory strikes.
