In that case, if they still push for a new carpet I'd block and ignore them. They're clearly ungrateful for all the help that you've given to them for free and they're trying it on for a new carpet now.I already did the pc / screen at cost to help him out as he is poor / had a stroke plus I have done probably 5 free visits over the years to help him with various computer issues!
Why? It's the customer's PC, the customer asked for it to be moved. How is the OP responsible for that?
in which case i would be saying to them something along the lines below.
“im really sorry your carpet has been marked and i can understand where you are coming from however i believe asking for a full carpet replacement in this case is unfair owing to the age and condition of the carpet and the fact that i moved the pc at your own request. As you are aware i have tried to clean it myself and couldn’t. What i can do is offer you £xx off the pc OR request a professional cleaning service for the portion of affected carpet at my cost. However i won’t be replacing the full carpet or having the entire carpet professionally cleaned as that is not a proportionate or reasonable response to the incident.”
the £xx i would suggest being less than the cost of a cleaner as they are more likely to want cash than a clean carpet. And try to ensure that it doesn’t cut all of your profit away.
It was on his desk for 15 year I stood it on the floor for 5 mins..Don't do this.
Writing this you've as good as admitted fault.
Still OP, you didn't say in reply to my last question, how long has the PC been sat on the carpet?
He asked you to move it ffs. :O
It was on his desk for 15 year I stood it on the floor for 5 mins..
A paying customer? By the sounds of it the OP has spent way more time dealing with this customer than it's actually worth. Besides, a 15 year old computer? This is a one and done customer.they aren’t. I’m not saying the op is responsible. as i said that was what i would he saying.
Its better to try to come to an amicable solution than losing a paying customer and facing negative reviews and going through official channels IMO
The plastic feet have disolved and have the consistency of thick oil, I've handled probably 1000s of pc's and not seen that before.
Rip Ferrari interiorsIt's something that can happen to some plastics. Certain plastics that have a grippy, rubberised, feel are notorious for turning to a gunk over time.
Just cut out the marked bits and replace thoseIf they're being ridiculous enough to want the whole carpet replaced, tell them to get lost.
What would you do? Who is legally and morally at fault?
