I'm inclined to agree, as a temporary measure to make life difficult and remind Palestinians whom is causing the problems I think it is defensible. A permanent cessation is not. Israel has been supplying water and power for years and their blockade of all of the Gaza borders mean that no economic development is really possible and that importation of heavy industry like water and power plants has not been possible. I think that places a moral burden on Israel.

Oh, make no bones, Israel is almost as bad as Hamas, well, up until this attack. Hamas just reached a new low, which has given Israel the high ground for the moment. They would be stupid to lose it, but they are and they will.

But despite this, I am still on Israel's side in all this. They are harsh, yes, but at least they hold some ideas of peace, Hamas' entire reason for existing is to wipe Israel off the map. Same with most of the surrounding Arab countries. They don't want peace, they want Israel gone and the Jews dead.
 
The problem is while Israel give off the illusion of promoting peace, they have subjugated and deliberately restricted economic independence and growth in both Gaza and the West Bank for decades. They have a policy of keeping the Palestinians “in their place” and this acknowledged as apartheid.

So what has happened to Israel is terrible and I have no sympathy for Hamas but the state of Israel is not some peace loving regime that believes in live and let live. So it’s no surprise their actions have finally resulted in this outcome and no that is not me condoning what has happened, but just expressing why I’m not surprised.

Or are you OK with what Hamas has done? Or maybe you are happy with how Israel has historically and terribly treated the Palestinians? Or maybe you genuinely believe that Israel are paragons of moral virtue?

Too much to list. First sentence suggesting the problem is how Israel presents itself; all down hill from there.
 
I'm interested to hear what the alternatives to the current military action those that oppose it suggest? Does anyone really think if Israel lay down their arms and invite in their neighbours forgive and forget style it's all going to be peace and harmony? I'd suggest if they tried that there wouldn't be an Israel shortly afterwards. No-one likes it but sometimes war is the only way to resolve it.

I think the difference is they have the means to do it and haven't. Hamas just have that as an ambition. You have to ask yourself why they would do what they did recently and go to the effort to post it all over the internet? They could have just attacked military targets. They were looking to provoke a very strong reaction.

There aren't that many innocent civilians in Gaza.

Cutting off their food and water is terrible, but let's be honest here, in a few weeks Israeli soldiers are going to shoot them, so does it really matter?

I feel sorry for the people who just want out, and I wish I could magically transport them, but no one wants them. Even if they could get out, where would they go? I mean, you would think that the very first thing the surrounding Arab states would do is offer them a home, like Poland did for the people of Ukraine, but all they offer is words and more violence.

And I can understand why Israel doesn't want a corridor, because I guarantee you most of the people to leave would be the Hamas.

No, I hate to say it, but I think Israel is doing what needs to be done. Like I said, I wish there was a way the innocent could be saved, but I don't think there is.

The difference is, wiping the Palestinians out is not the only Israeli plan, whereas wiping the Jews out is the only Hamas plan.

I'm really struggling with this tbh. I abhor what Hamas has done but if you yank the dog's tail hard enough it will turn round and bite you.

Sadly what has happened was inevitable and I just feel so sorry for those 1 million children and 500,000 women for what is going to happen over the next few weeks as they face their own holocaust.

History repeats because no one listens.

Hamas can get rockets for their fighters, but can't get necessities for their people?

Priorities. Hamas can clearly get the supplies it cares about.

The term "blockade" implies Israel controls everything that goes in and out of Gaza.

The rockets being launched from Gaza into Israel demonstrate otherwise.

The example works perfectly well, people just don't like what I said because of what has happened. I see now we have an ultimatum though, so we can see how that plays out in the coming days.

Israel seems to have learnt from the Warsaw ghetto. Recreating it perfectly in Gaza.

Evil acts by Hamas are being used to justify starve/punish innocent people.

No child deserves to die as a result of an adults evil stupidity, yet here we are with children on both sides dying.
