BMW and M Power Owners

@Robzere31 yes, for the rest of us to deal with lol
amazed and dismayed that bmw went from a nice looking f32 to that monstrosity that is the g22

Indeed, I've talked myself out of a couple of cars already including an F series M4 which a friend has just traded in for an 850i.
I was never a fan of the G series front but I have softened a little in the last year or so....must be getting old!!

Evening all. OK am I going crazy or should this not be happening? I updated the car this afternoon (2 series GC M235i) to the latest 11/2023.50 software version. I've been out this evening because for some reason, my Nextbase Dashcam is no longer turning off automatically after looking the car. Can't figure it out. So I've just manually held the button to turn it off whereas usually it powers off after ~10s. As well as that though, there are led's still illuminated in the car. Namely I have the red light for the electronic handbrake, the green light for auto hold, the green light on the rear window lock and the green light on the auto headlight button. And the hazard warning button is illumianted. I stood outside for about 5 minutes but they are all still on.

Am I going mad or is that wrong? Dodgy software update?

Cheers.

Ok yep I am going mad. Waited about 15 minutes, went back out and those little led lights have gone off. Just must never have noticed it before. Spoken to my bro who has a 2 series GC also, and same Dashcam, he has his in the rear power socket so I'll try and move mine tomorrow. It looks potentially to be like similar to the little led lights and the power to the front 12v socket remains on for about 15 minutes. There is a blue light on the Dashcam power lead , that remains on when the car is locked. When I went back later on, this was also off.

Cheers.

I recently bought a SanDisk 128GB Ultra Fit USB 3.2 Flash Drive to put music from my mac to the car (640d) but the car only seems to ready afew files (110gb of data on the drive). I have tried both FAT32 and now NTFS and still the same thing. Do I need to leave it for awhile to let it "index" stuff (if it even does that?!)

I remember it has to be FAT32 and I'm pretty sure it's limited to 64gb, in my cars I had to use the USB socket in the glove box where you copy/move the data onto the CIC, the usb ports on the console didn't work for whatever reason.

I had my handbrake adjusted (for the 2nd time) alongside the service - manual handbrake, as when I drive off after the car sitting a hwile, there is a squealing from the rear brakes like the pads are binding.
They still haven't fixed this, and now on a hard-ish right turn above 20mph, there is also an accompanied squealing. Getting a little peed off they haven't fixed the issue at the second time of asking, and have now made it worse!

Anyone got ideas on how to get the best price for my 2019 M850i?
Motorway is £38500, think a BMW main dealer or a premium car dealer would do any better?
Don't want to sell privately.

I've had a lot of fun out of it but I want to get something a bit more practical so idea is to sell and maybe pick up an lci M340i in 6-12 months or so when the prices come down a bit.

It's definitely worth enquiring with some BMW dealerships, though they'll be inclined to offer more if you're part exchanging it.

As a general rule, they do consider the 8 Series to be a difficult car to sell in general, so won't be desperate for it, but they might well beat Motorway.

Especially at the moment, Most high-end sports or luxury cars are nigh on impossible to sell with interest rates and inflation as they are. You'll likely get properly low-balled.
That seems to be priced in to the crazy depreciation on these things!
If I can get into the 40s I'll probably be happy enough to sell.

For windscreen wash concentrate, do you normally dilute with distilled water?
Nah, just tap water. I use the little concentrate bottles, you can normally get them for only 3 or 4 quid each. I wait until it's nearly empty, put the concentrate in and fill with plain water.

Coolant dilution I use distilled.

I put around 1300 mp3 songs on the root of a 64GB NTFS USB drive, plugged it in the car and it only picks up 500 songs. Looking in the manual, the car can remember 4 USB sticks. I will reformat another 32GB drive FAT32 and try it.

I got all my info from the Z4forum at the time when I went through the CIC copying malarky, I gave up in the end bought a wireless apple carplay thingie,

But having a look now some of the posts mention limiting the quality, one mentions "300kbps WMA format"

I don't know why its not a simple process. Manual is rubbish, format USB fat32 and put the files on the usb and goto media and copy.....well i would if you showed me all the files on it! I read people using SSD external drives with 256/500GB without any issues...so who knows what is going on.
I had CCC (still works with OEM system) in my M6 which I replaced with an Android system I got from China bloody works brilliantly, copies my MP3s from USB to storage without a fuss.

I deleted everything off the cars HDD, so will try the 2 USB sticks I have and see how it goes.
