It has definitely gone up in price as I remember paying £10 for Ralph Breaks the Internet in 2018. Aladdin live action, Frozen II and James Bond No Time To Die were all £10 or £11 at the same cinema. James Bond was post-COVID as well.

Luxe is the premium odeon no? Which is also fairly new afaik. It's unfair to compare these to cinema tickets at other normal venues, especially as they are actually at record low prices. £5 is extremely low and that's odeon. It's so low I feel it's priced like this to bankrupt cineworld and then they will go back to a profit making amount.
 
I've got a massive wedge of old cinema tickets from the 90's, no idea why I kept them but I found them when sorting through the loft at my Mum's house - will have to see what the prices were like, I think they were mostly UCI and WB.

I am sure people of certain age would say that about the 70's (Star Wars, Godfather, Taxi Driver, One over the Couckoo's Nest, French Connection, Apocalypse Now) and 80's (Terminator, T2, Die Hard, Full Metal Jacket, The Shinning, Empire Strikes Back, Bladerunner)

I could go on....my point is, we tend remember the good films, forget the bad and at certain age range in a person remembers those movies fondly, usually from around their teenage years to mid 20's.
 
Our Vue is cheap at £5.99 and still viable to go to the Cinema as all the seats and screens were done up.
Only go to the Everyman if something decent is out and with my partner.

T2 was 90s and it was the better of the two.

I'm an early 80s child. So I can count some of the 80s and 00s. I've seen a lot of film from other eras. 90s for me is still the best. I do agree what you're saying in part.
 
It used to be worth going to the cinema 20 years ago or so when tv screens were at the largest 32 inch and low definition. Now tvs are 50 inch plus and wide screen, you get in cinematic experience in your own home in HD it's really not worth it, going through the hassle of queuing and loads of annoying people shouting at the screen and paying over the odds for snacks and drinks. Also pausing while you use the bathroom so you don't miss bits.

Yes Luxe is the premium version, but I was quoting the same cinema from 2018 to 2024 as I haven't used any other cinemas in that time.

Seems like cinema prices have been on the up according to this Beeb article. Inflation is still affecting the entertainment sector and hotels.

Me and my mate goes roughly once a month with my 2 for £10 Amazon offer lately. Which basically makes my Prime subscription free with the savings vs a normal price ticket (£14).

I only found out a few months ago, I think it was introduced this year?

But if you have someone to go with, it saves so much money. Like 1 trip would save like £20. Makes the Prime Subscription more than free.

1 month Prime £8.99 + £10 (2 for 1) = £18.99

Price of 2 cinema tickets....anything around £14 each...so £28.

That's a tenner more in my pocket.

I get 6 free tickets with Lloyds each year but there are usually other things I want to see. Just did a check at my local and it makes two recliners £15 instead of £20, or £19 instead of £24 for recliner+. Can't complain about a fiver saving.
 
We get 18 free tickets from Lloyds (somehow my partner gets it on 2 accounts) and have Meerkat Movies, so we go to the cinema quite often and don't pay much at all overall.
 
Ours is still 5 pounds a ticket non Imax and free parking. No idea how that's possible.

We get 6 lloyds tickets a year.

If going to Imax use lloyds tickets and makes Imax Premier seating 5 pounds too.

Still, I've only used 1 pair of tickets as films are so poor lately imo.
 
We go as a very occasional trip out, maybe once a year. It's a really nice independent, but it is around £15 each.

I gave up going to the standard cinemas ages ago, because they were charging almost £10 and I generally didn't like the experience... too busy, too much noise, phones etc.

And if I've bought a half-decent TV and speakers, I might as well get some benefit out of it.
 
Odeon, fiver a ticket, any time of any day. Of course the sneaky booking fee adds a quid or two on top but it's still worthwhile.

That being said, I watched Deadpool & Wolverine at the Vue at Westfields and enjoyed it so much I took my wife to Guildford Odeon the next day to see it and it was like seeing a different film. The IMAX Vue blew it out the water, the Odeon was pathetic in comparison. I suspect that without the IMAX as my reference point I'd not even have noticed.
 
Cineworld we're still using a discounted Unlimited card and Meerkat with a few others in between. Currently around £1.60 a ticket with the films we see.
