Honestly if i was waiting for a 9700 XT i would just buy the 5070, this just feels like AMD are more concerned with old stock than they are with getting new products out in the hopes of turning it around and i can't be bothered with people who have no sense of self preservation or urgency.

Why 5070 with it's 12gb , when the leaks suggest that AMD overall are looking really good over the gimped 5070 , I rather wait few months then be stuck with the 5070 for years ?

They did have fsr 4 being shown as a work in progress so its possible they want that to look as good as it can. Though sending cards out in January for them to gather dust until March makes no sense. There was also talk about low stock for some of the 50 series so maybe they're gambling that'll be the case and anyone wanting to get a 70 tier of card will wait.

Maybe the initially cards had already been shipped on a slow boat before CES and Nvidia going all in on Ai has spooked them with FSR4 looking good but not being ready for initial planned launch.

The bean counters and execs don't think like us, take the risk and it goes completely wrong you are likely looking for a new job within a month. I'd imagine they are all on thin ice already with the CPU team wanting more and more budget and actually performing.

I'll make do, even considering AMD these days is a never ending patience effort and its becoming hard work, easier life joining those who already don't consider them even existing.

In the demo FSR4 was lauded (Probably because previous FSR is actually so crap in comparison to DLSS)

And you wouldn't put all your eggs in the FSR basket given it needs support anyway.
 
I'm just going to wait, save a little bit more.

The 5070 isn't the one for me and the 5070ti is out of my budget at the moment really.

So it's wait and save, if the 9070xt is good then I keep some of my budget and spend it else where or I've saved enough extra to step into the 5070ti.

Only thing I'm worried about are these tariffs that are coming and what they do to the market.

I mean Nvidia are releasing the 5070/5070Ti sometime in February right? So no more than 2 months after that, potentially only a few days (if they know the release dates of the 5070s).
But given the 5080 and 5090 aren't expected until the end of January, even if AMD released at the end of March that's only 2 months, worst case scenario.


So with this announced "date", basically the message this sends to me is that:
if you're in team green and were always going to be team green, AMD don't care about you, you weren't the target audience.
if you're on the fence and don't know which way to go but need a card ASAP, AMD don't want your business.
if you're on the fence but won't be buying straight away, AMD got you.
if you were always going to buy AMD no matter what, shut up, AMD will get to you when they're good and ready and you'll still love them regardless.

They should get ahead of Nvidia and take advantage of them not having a product in the fight. But no..... if we do that we can't ask our customers to be patient for 262'nd time.

They've definitiely lost a lot of credit with this one. It's getting more and more difficult to 'like' these corporations. Let alone save oneself for them as if they are some faithful fiancee off fighting in a war...

Yes, it is getting more and more difficult to try and be understanding with AMD, they keep disappointing over and over...
