*** The AMD RDNA 4 Rumour Mill ***

AMD is trying to gain mid to low end market share and the only way to do that is to make sure their cards are the top performers in those tiers. I suspect they are going to keep their cards under wraps until Nvidia has launched the 5070. It looks like they decided that it's no point giving the competition the heads up so they can fiddle with clockspeeds and drivers to beat them. Also FSR4 may not be ready or they may be scrambling to add 4X frame gen as well after Nvidia's announcement.

Unless you are desperate to get a card then it makes sense to wait instead of scrambling for a Nvidia card on release.

Yeah but if your prospective buyers have already bought a card, it doesn't matter what price/performance you offer.

9070 series might end up in discounts by the Summer if they don’t sell well. I figure most would have got fed up and bought Nvidia equivalents- then who does that leave to buy AMD cards? What does that mean for disrupting the market share?

Exactly. Nvidia had to delay Blackwell due to a bug and delayed GDDR7 production.

AMD can't even get a card out based on a similar process node and GDDR6 before Nvidia.

They are walking straight into any Trump tariffs. Nvidia at least mentioned a set minimum pricing.

HUB confirmed AMD is pricing based on Nvidia:

So basically AMD can't just give us 30% to 40% extra performance over a £480 RX7800XT then? How does that need Nvidia for them to make a decision.

So expect if the RTX5070 is rubbish, the price to be jacked up,or if it is good the price to lower.

isn't that the price fixing? that market is f*d

Well there we have it, 3 months after Nvidia when no one cares....

That's can't be true he must be talking about the 9060 or something he can't mean the 9070xt.

There's pictures of it in stores. If they delay it 3 months when retailers already have the goods that's a monumental **** up.

It will go down as one of the all time greatest **** ups of any GPU launch anywhere and will cement AMD to the archives of irrelevance as they become an absolute laughing stock.

As expected, they won't leave any money on the table.

If their testing against the competiton shows to be good then the price will be reflective.

Instead of just going balls to the wall and coming in very agessive they are going to wait and see.

They will likely want to see how reviews come back on all the AI as well and the public reception of it. If the latest from Nvidia is as good as they are making out and the public are receptive then they may be dead in the water, if the public aren't buying into it then they may have a strong hand.

Is delaying a GPU because you don't know how to price it worse than delaying it because you've messed up your cooler/shroud design?

Yes because it shows you have no idea what you're making.

It's shows you're not a leader, not a competitor and that are are just suckling on the teets of your competition. It shows they have 0 confidence in their product, 0 ability to market, manage or produce anything. It demonstrates that AMD is a follower in the industry and can't make decisions.

They have a winning card if the leaked tests are true and accurate.

400 for the 9070 and 550-for the 9070xt and they will sell like wild fires. All this shows is that AMD will price against Nvdia and fail.

There is 0 point waiting on AMD as they will clearly just price their cards $50 cheaper than Nvidia and cry they don't have marketshare.

Im ready to buy a 9070xt but **** me i might just splurge on a 5080 as I originally planned if there's stock available.

At least this means that when AMD do release the cards in March that there's no reason there won't be plenty of stock to go around. No pre-ordering, no sitting around with credit card in hand at 2pm hitting refresh so you can get one, all retailers should have stock for days.

Of course if they don't and they sell out of what they have in the first few hours and then have to wait for more stock anyone not buying on day 1 might have to wait until April (depending on when in March they go on sale).
