Again, this isn't any justification, regardless of what your friends said, the moment you put the card on ebay, meant you're scalping and contributing to artifical scarcity, so you can understand why a lot of people are disappointed in this thread.I did consult with close friends "hey I have this item I really want, but I can sell it for a lot that is a really significant amount of money for me what shall I do" and I think everyone said sell it. I get it though we as gamers a passionate and we are all excited about a new launch and its been a crappy launch. Everyone who knows me knows I'm a gamer/tech person first, but it would feel a little bad knowing playing my 5090 now meant giving up so much, when I can just wait.
Again I could have not said anything, but personally I think there is a legitimate decision to be made for early adopters. I did post a picture of my card, because I am excited to get it and I do want to give it a blast so bad lol that's why its high price or nothing.
Edit I'll leave it at that though, because I don't want to detract from others enjoyment of the thread on what can be an emotive subject.
You can't argue that it's not "bad". Anyone who partakes in this is profiting at the expense of someone else's enthusiasm/needs and directly favours those who are richer (yes you can argue anyone spending £2k on a gpu is well off) but the point still standsHmm mixed feelings! It’s undeniable that intending to buy something in low supply and then attempting to sell it for a higher price is undoubtedly seeking to exploit a situation.
Is that bad? Well, no. It can be logical and it’s a pillar of sound financial practice. Am I surprised that people are annoyed? Also no. Many people are sitting on ye olde cards, so it’s an exciting purchase… it ‘hurts’ to see anything that is slowing down a process.
When annoyed, it’s your own job to manage that annoyance… but the seller also needs to ride the wave of being potentially seen as a pest.
Then as a minor point, solely intending to buy to resell doesn’t seem like what he’s done. But I expect he’s not someone that’s upgrading from a ‘ye olde’ card… can’t remember
Personally, the only annoying thing for me is desperately wanting some forum reviews / temps - get on with it @Hostile_18 I’m chomping here

In the end, you're profiting off of someone else's needs and no matter how you spin it, it's not morally/ethically justifiable in my opinion regardless if most people can understand why you did it.

And you'd just let him have all the Haribo?Conveniently I offer a complimentary box decluttering service exclusively for those that like to enjoy haribo in a calming environment
What's funny is that it seems these scalpers are working harder to get those GPUs than normal customers. They must be desperate for that few hundred quid.Seems there was a large dump of MSI trio RTX 5090 today on another site as I can see from reddit, and other places and they seem to be making their way to eBay already.
Scalpers, you never beat them.
That's where my gamer side kicks in and I'd rather keep and enjoy the card, its only where it gets financially silly to keep it I question it. I've been planning this purchase since November!Hostile18 If you really want to make profit off it. Sell it like 3400 3500. Then wait couple months buy back at 2000 or just buy 9070xt.
There is no right or wrong in re-selling it. Just some advance, play it low
You say your declining offers of 4.4k, this isn't because you are taking the high ground, you just want as much profit as you possibley can get.
I think anyone could have predicted that 5090's were going to go for a stupid price on the auction site. It was well documented before release and even posted by Gibbo that they had less than 10, so it was easy to tell that other retailers would be the same.
So everything points that it was pre-mediated, including your own conversations, that you were going to put it up for sale and get as much profit as you can.

Everyone can see the 'logic' behind your arguement on why you are selling it but when your on an enthusiast forum, it is hoped for and kind of expected that when you are lucky enough to receive such a product that it is going to be enjoyed by yourself. Especially when there is plenty of people here that also save hard to be able to afford such products and either can't get one or are in a massive pre-order queue.
Exactly! What's the lowest he would take? £5K? £5.5K?
Just put it up for auction, see what happens.
I don't think anyone is saying its good or bad, just a grey area early Suprim and Astral users have to consider.
On the plus side, plot twists galore. Just when we thought every avenue had been talked about to death!
Lose a chunk to the tax man too if there really is £3k profit.Got to be careful posting that '£6K' GPU, don't skimp out on the insurance
Fully insured at £6K with DPD, the cost comes up as £403.77!
Agreed, I just missed another drop on the other site in question of PNY RTX 5090 OC a few hours ago, need a tracker lol. What's funny is that it seems these scalpers are working harder to get those GPUs than normal customers. They must be desperate for that few hundred quid.
You've sold 3 4090's on that ebay account. This isn't a one-off opportunistic moment. Clearly you're happy to be a scalper whilst criticising retailer's prices. You're just a hypocrite really who came on the forums to show off a 5090 that you had little intention of using.
