Easy to play on low levels and a lot to learn to master it.
Civ 6 is probably best. Can't comment on 7
By best do you mean as in best for a new player because it was dumbed down so much?

6 (with a few mods and all the DLC) presents a lot of information upfront, making it a very easy 4X game to see a path from start to finish. It was a lot of fun in that regard but also lacks some surprise, an old mate of mine used to hate the last 1/3rd of the game because you could see you won and there wasn't much joy in playing it out for him, which a few thousand hours in I can see.By best do you mean as in best for a new player because it was dumbed down so much?
On past Civs, in multiplayer, on Marathon, on the largest map sizes, our matches would last monthsHow many hours does a campaign normally take? depends on diff I guess.

Turning off the high resolution UI (or whatever its called in the options) helps a bit, still a crap UI but makes it a bit more tolerableWho ever designed this 7 UI needs to be shot.
It looks utterly childish.
I feel like I'm playing in 800x600 at 1440p
Upscaling?
Thank you! Was wondering why it was a bit too smallTurning off the high resolution UI (or whatever its called in the options) helps a bit, still a crap UI but makes it a bit more tolerable
Been there, done thatCan't speak to the latest version, but in older Civs, if you started in the morning after breakfast you could finish by bedtime.
Civ 2 was the last good civ for me. The manual was massive.I still remember fondly my aircraft carrier battle fleets ( and nuclear subs ) in Civ 2 ; felt like I was playing as the U.S Navy near the end of every match.
They have definitely leaned too far into consoles etc, you can tell from many of the design decisions that its been done with a primary focus of making it more accessible to console/mobile/tablet/steamdeck users, sadly at the expense of their historical core userbase, PC gamers. It deffo feels even more Xboxified than 6 did....
It's a bit heartbreaking but I'm sure I'll learn to love her again.
It made me go and read up who Jose Rizal was , which I guess was educational, so thats a plus![]()
