***Sid Meier's Civilization VII***

To be fair, he even said he liked the game in the 0/10 video and the issues were not dealbreakers for him.

All of the criticisms he gives of the game, while done in a bit of a raging style were reasonable when you take in what he actually said.

Edit: but yes, the negative one will get more views and it was the one that YouTube served to be via its algorithm, I didn’t search it out. I had to go into the description to find the positive video and click through from there.

I got the positive one when I opened YouTube. He does talk about a few things he doesn’t like in the positive one too.

I’ll get them watched but man that’s an annoying way to review something. Will he go fit the third one to weigh up positives v negatives to give a real review I wonder

After watching them, I think it's actually a pretty good way to review: more about informing you than giving an opinion. Broadly, he seems to like the gameplay and changes, and utterly despise the UI. The mess video is almost all about the UI; but I'm not really sure what his issue with it is apart from his (entirely valid) criticism that the graphic style makes it really hard to read the screen and now what different buildings etc do? The UI looks fine in all the video I've seen, so I guess it must be down to the feel of it? He's not very clear, tbh, there's a single example about the positioning of a button but I'm not sure why its so objectionable to him. His other criticism is around the amount of completeness of the game at launch and the ongoing DLCs etc: while he thinks its fun now, those planning on waiting six months are likely to have a better time.

Also, can anyone give me a tl;dr on why Denuvo is so bad?

Spiffing Brit has a video up where he takes a 25 strength swordsman and uses addons to get it to 69 before the end of the first age!

Not sure if I want to buy this yet. I never really got into Civ6 and haven't touched it for years...although I wonder if that's just a time thing, rather than Civ6 specifically...it's not like I've gone back to Civ5 instead.

From the few reviews I've watched so far, apparently combat in general is a lot better, but I always felt naval combat in particular was a bit poor in Civ6. As I remember, the AI basically never bothered with ships at all...if that's improved I think I'd probably be more inclined to buy, as I loved that aspect of earlier titles.

I still remember fondly my aircraft carrier battle fleets ( and nuclear subs ) in Civ 2 ; felt like I was playing as the U.S Navy near the end of every match.

Although land units being able to transport themselves is much simpler, I used to quite enjoy the logistics of having to build transport ships to move armies, and having a decent navy to protect them. Not sure when that stopped and auto embark took over, Civ5 I think?

Yes, I think it was ... Civ 5 changed a lot of the combat rules, especially getting rid of "doom" stacks.

Bought. Waiting for a new PC to arrive in the next week or so though so not much point in downloading it yet.

Standard civ launch. They'll be positive in a year or so when it's ready.
Probably a fair assessment, when Civ 5 launched many reviews said "good but not great" and now its considered one of the best Civ games, so seeing Civ 7 reviews that say "Good but not great" is not a large surprise
