What film did you watch last night?

Novocaine. Started off quite well and interesting, then decended in to stupidity. I can't stand action comedies like this, with silly quips being made during supposedly brutal fighting. 3/10.

Cleaner - absolute stinker. What happened to Daisy Ridley doing **** like this, and Clive Owen! 2/10.

Have had a rough time finding even semi-decent films recently.

Bug (2006)

As I'm watching it I'm think it's got Killer Joe vibes, in terms of the type of people the characters are. And that it felt like a play with it's almost single location for the entire film. Then I watch the credits and it's based on a play written by the person that wrote Killer Joe.

Great performances from the entire cast even though it all gets a bit weird in the final third.

7/10

Hell and High Water

Great film. Some great performances and a decent story. The setting was very good and some really great dialogue.

8.0/10

I recognised a couple of the characters from Yellowstone and after looking it up i found out the guy that wrote the movie also wrote Yellowstone and the Sicario movies. Explained why some of the scenes were a bit familiar in tone.

You aren't wrong. I used to watch loads of films. Plenty of really good little indie movies too. But absolutely nothing worth a crap lately :(

Here are 250 to choose from, https://www.imdb.com/chart/top/?ref_=chttp_ql_2

The Crow (2025). 4.5/10 (5 being average).

The first 1/2 seems lost and ill constructed. It doesn't have enough focus to act like standalone movie or reset the movie for those that have watched the original. This is partly the script, the actors, the screenplay and the directing.

After the 'black blood' it seems more focused but as it lost the frontend you don't feel engaged in the back end of the film.
